We recently connected with Bobbie Abdallah and have shared our conversation below.
Bobbie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
After I left the corporate world, I started the first mobile doggie daycare service in Denver Colorado to fulfill my lifelong passion for dogs. Unfortunately, due to 9/11 and the ensuing economic fallout, I was forced to close the business. But the seed was planted for my next business due to all the time I spent educating dog owners about their furry best friends! In fact, I spent more time with THEM than their dogs!
So after I moved to my dream location in Lake Tahoe, I decided to reinvent myself again and use both my journalism and graphic design degrees to create a business catering busy dog business owners with engaging and valuable K9 content in the form of blogs and monthly newsletters.
Having run the mobile doggie daycare completely by myself, I understood most small businesses do not have the staff, time or experience to create their own original content. When I started ten years ago, “pet” content existed, but not specific content for dog owners. (Of course today, that’s a different story.)
I realized I made SO many mistakes with my first dog and so I set out to create content that would help other dog parents understand their pups better and be equipped to give their dogs their BEST life!
I pride myself on only offering science-based K9 content that is unbiased and not solely based on opinion. So many “issues” can simply be corrected with knowledge and WITHOUT having to surrender the dog to a shelter or rescue and a dubious future. This is close to my heart because my first dog, Taz, was on death row when I adopted him simply because no one trained him how to live in a human world! I want to change that attitude and the number of dogs surrendered often due to a lack of knowledge.
Creating this business has also allowed me to be creative and perhaps more importantly, work from home with my own Great Danes.
The greatest reward is when someone reaches out to me and says the newsletter helped them with their dog! That makes it ALL worthwhile!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Cold Noses News is a content service for busy dog business owners. Content is SO important in today’s digital age!
Regular monthly blogs help attract and keep Google’s attention and improve the search results for a business while also solidifying expertise. Blogs also make great repurposed social media posts while driving the reader back to your website to learn more. We create ready-to-use and original blog posts with the client’s keywords, images and a Call to Action at the end of each blog post. The client only needs to cut-and-paste the blog into their favorite platform or we can do that for them also.
The monthly newsletter is a valuable and free marketing tool for a dog business to easily share with their dog parents each month that is not blatant, in-your-face selling. That approach doesn’t work well today; in fact, it can turn off the very people you want to nurture! People rarely complain about valuable (and FREE) information!
Each month the ready-to-use and branded-for-your-business newsletter is perfect for your email list but it’s also perfect for printing and cross-promotion! This is a very unique feature of our newsletter! Clients receive a high-resolution PDF that prints perfectly each time and is perfect to include in product shipments, at your check-out (POS) and events and gives you a chance to ask the person for their email address to grow the all-critical email list! A client on the East Coast did this at an event and she gathered 200+ new emails!
While I NEVER started out to gain recognition, but rather to help dog business owners and their dog parent clients with the BEST information, it’s has been validating to have Cold Noses News recognized with the following awards:

How did you build your audience on social media?
The first thing I learned about social media is that it is a long-term strategy! I have never bought a follower but with some consistency over time, I have almost 40K followers total from Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. What I did was simple. Every morning over coffee, I spent an hour reaching out and connecting on social media. It doesn’t seem like much, but over time it adds up to a sizable amount!
I also ask my friends to follow and share my posts helping me increase the number of eyeballs (and followers)! We all have a “network” of people so reach out and ask people to share what you’re offering (and do the SAME in return)! I also share content from all of my clients driving traffic back to their website and also letting new people know about my services.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have a close relationship with all my clients. That’s something I wanted to make sure I offered after working in the corporate world and seeing how little most of them care about their clients once money exchanges hands. I believe in over-delivering and helping other businesses grow and succeed. That’s called a true win-win! When your client does better, you will too and enjoy long-term business relationships.
I also make sure my clients feel comfortable reaching out (they have my personal cell number) and asking questions or asking for help or even recommendations. This simple strategy has created loyal and long-term clients for my business. After all, we all want that kind of customer service!
