We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dlo Tha Don. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dlo Tha Don below.
Dlo Tha Don, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Best investment is probably taking the $$ I had at the time back in 2015 and buying recording equipment . Not only do I love rapping but learning how to engineer as years went by definitely helped as an artist, being able to help other’s create their own sound and styles and last but not least creating friendships with some of the most talented people in my city.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Music has always been a way for me to express my feelings with how I feel, so it’s one way to let others know what I’m doing and how I’m doing out here, also my older brother, he’s known the love I have for music since I was a kid. And considering I could easily come up with raps and what I could do with rhyming, he’s the one that pushed me to keep goin. He passed away back in 2015 so ima continue this music path not only for me but for him. It’s crazy because when I got in this music I didn’t know much about much in the music scene, who to talk to, how to promo etc.. but I can proudly say till this day I have definitely reached my goal from when I was 17.. to opening up for artist like Montana of 300, Xavier Wulf, Riff Raff, Doobie and Caskey, King Iso and even a featured song with Yung Simmie and still hoping for more better days! Music out in Iowa has its up and downs I’d say, but for the most part recently we have been coming together better as a community within the past year vs the animosity how things were years ago. My good friend Loren Parks also known as LoLo Savage has been hosting Iowa HipHop Showcase ever other month that gives artist out here that time to show us what they got and for future opportunities.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe everyone has their own way of wanting to show support and I think some good ways are, simply just sharing a post online. Also attending events or even shopping for merch they could be selling.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being known to the community as an music artist, getting to meet awesome people and getting to have more opportunities in life to help my career and goals
