Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lori Oberbroeckling. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Lori, thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
In 2020, as we all struggled through the unexpected madness of the pandemic, moms arguably struggled most. As I watched moms I knew personally and moms online, I could see that some were managing through while some were at a complete loss for how to balance it all. They were overwhelmed, confused and exhausted. I thought, “What if I wrote a book that could help moms?” And…Secrets of Supermom was born.
Once I had the idea in my mind, it was all encompassing. I surveyed and interviewed nearly 200 moms to find out what was working for them and what just wasn’t. I learned all the steps to write a book, and I got to work. In just 34 days, I created my entire manuscript and started the editing, formatting, and publishing process.
I launched the book out into the world in February 2021 and crossed my fingers that it would resonate. I crossed my fingers that it would make the impact I had hoped. Moms started to reach out to me and share their stories. Moms started using the secrets. It was magical.
From the magic of the book grew my podcast, membership, group coaching program and one-to-one coaching specifically targeted at busy moms.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thanks so much for having me! My name is Lori Oberbroeckling, and I am a wife, mom of four, corporate leader, and author of the book “Secrets of Supermom: How Extraordinary Moms Succeed at Work and Home & How You Can Too!” I have spent nearly 20 years climbing the corporate ladder while staying a present and involved mom. Along the way, moms kept saying to me, “I don’t know how you do it!” When the pandemic began and everyone’s world was turned upside down, I realized that moms were struggling more than ever. I wanted to help moms develop the strategies and habits to feel present and engaged in all areas of their life. I wanted moms to feel successful instead of burned out, overwhelmed, and guilty about everything. I wanted moms to be happy. I wrote the book “Secrets of Supermom” to help moms have the career and the family of their dreams–without sacrificing either.
The launch of the book was a beautiful catalyst into what has become my business including not only my book but the podcast “The Secrets of Supermom Show”, The Supermom Society membership, and one-on-one coaching especially for busy moms.
Launching my book and business this past year has given me more than I could have ever imagined! Moms are reaching out to me on Facebook or Instagram and telling me how the book has changed their life. They are sharing with me the strategies they have started using and how they are working. They are sharing their struggles with me via email. I am connecting with more moms than ever before and these connections mean the world to me. Helping moms be more productive, better at managing their time, focus on their health, or simply be happier by setting the right priorities has been a dream come true.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I know I am not alone with this lesson, but the biggest lesson I have had to unlearn is that it is a weakness to ask for help. Hire someone to help me at home? No way! I should be able to do it myself. Hire someone to help me in my business? What if someone thinks I can’t do it all? Delegate to a team member or family member? I can just do it better and faster myself.
I had to swallow my pride and ego to realize that one of the biggest secrets of being a true supermom is asking for help.
Asking for help has allowed my stress level to decrease while increasing my productivity. Asking for help has allowed my family to share in responsibilities instead of feeling like an island.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My biggest goal in creating Secrets of Supermom is to help moms be and feel their best so that they can support their families. We know that mom sets the tone for the home. Happy, stable, mentally healthy moms grow happy, stable, mentally healthy kids.
Changing the lives of moms changes the future of the world.
