We were lucky to catch up with Beverly Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Beverly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to provide ongoing consultations and direction with “Dreamers” to ensure they achieve their ultimate goal, dream and vision in life. As a “Dreamsteerer™” I am a person that steers you towards that overall vision. I used to get overly involved with doing everything for the Dreamer in order to achieve their dream until I realized I just needed to steer them in the right direction they needed to proceed toward in order to achieve it.
Beverly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Beverly Brown and I am a Consultant/Dreamsteerer™. My company is Creative Consulting & Consumer Services, LLC. I am originally from New Orleans, La by way of Cleveland, Ohio after eight years following the Katrina devastation, presently residing in San Tan Valley, AZ. I am a graduate of Southern University in New Orleans with a degree in Business and Marketing even after becoming a single teenage mother at the age of 15. I am a #1 Best Selling Author of “Empowering Women to Succeed, Turning Tragedy into Triumph” which I co-authored with seventeen other courageous women bearing their struggles in life and how they overcame them. I later released my own self-published book entitled “You Can Do It! Whatever It Is” to give Dreamers hope that they can accomplish anything that God has placed in their hearts to do. I completed my Dream of re-starting my Dreamsteerer Academe’™ in Arizona in 2017 and have successfully graduated 38 “Dreamers” who completed the nine-week course of uncovering the vision they already had inside. I later asked some of the graduates to share their stories in my self-published book entitled “The Graduates of Dreamsteerer Academe’™- From Dreamers to Visionaries”. I am now in the process of releasing my fourth self-published book “Dare to Be Different-Dare to Be YOU!” to encourage Dreamers, even more, to step out and pursue their dreams. I am also the Executive Producer and Creator of my YouTube Talk Show – Creative Consulting Dreams Inspirational Talk Show which aired previously on PBS in Ohio in 2013. I am also an Inspirational Speaker, Contributing Writer to several magazines, Mentor, Event Host and Planner, Actor in stage plays and TV, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and a believer that through God ALL things are possible.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’m originally from New Orleans, LA, and resided in the suburbs when the Katrina storm happened. As I have shared my story with others I always have to say, “On the day of the storm I was already in a storm – mentally, physically, and spiritually”. Mentally, because I had no direction due to starting a new business that was completely struggling, lack of transportation due to car repossession, and lack of money on the day of (actually $5 to be exact). Physically, because I was forced to move my possessions out of my home the day before the storm which was going into foreclosure, and spiritually because as I sat on the sidewalk looking up to God I had to ask Him in which direction should I be proceeding as I knew everything was in His hands. After the storm and devastation had subsided I ended up being transported to Cleveland, Ohio through the invitation of a friend. I went with nothing and what I thought would be a three-week visit transformed into eight years of renewal, regrowth, and revitalization. I restarted my business, launched myself as the Dreamsteerer, started Dreamsteerer Academe’ and produced my talk show on PBS.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot when I contracted breast cancer for the 2nd time (once in 2011 and again in 2013). I had just re-established myself in Ohio with my consulting business, had started my academy, and established my talk show when it recurred the second time. I made the decision to leave Cleveland, Ohio, and join my daughter and grandkids in Arizona in order to heal from complicated reconstructive surgery. I had to now depend on my daughter as I made a decision to re-establish and rebrand myself all over again in another city where no one knew me or knew of what I had just re-established in Cleveland, OH. I made the decision not to return to a corporate structure until I became re-established, therefore I began substitute teaching which afforded me the workday flexibility I needed and an income that would suffice in the interim. Making that choice, if it had not been for my daughter, I probably would have ended up homeless, as corporate America was no longer an option for me with the dreams that I planned to pursue.

It was a pleasure being interviewed by Canvas Rebel and I hope the article provided some insight as to how quickly life can transition and how continuously you must find a way to recover from it each time.
