We recently connected with Grissel Hintz and have shared our conversation below.
Grissel, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe what it takes to be successful is to continue to grow your education . Never assume you know it all or that you are the best . Always be humble and ready to learn.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started doing hair in 2013 after graduating beauty school . My first salon job was at a blow out bar. I really only liked the styling part of the hair industry working there really helped me learn to work with brides and get really good at blow outs . I also worked at a boudoir photography place doing hair and make up for shoots. When the photography studio closed I started doing freelance work with a agency . 2 years later I started working on my own and getting my name out there . Driving 4 hours round trip everyday because I live south of the cities didn’t stop me from loving what I do. I have a studio in Mankato now where I do trials and other hair care services. I love been able to travel to my clients and making their special day as easy as possible by providing onsite services. I specialize in braids and I have worked with all types of hair . I started doing makeup more this year and would love to continue doing both services. I love been bilingual too and getting clients that don’t speak English and been able to understand their needs. My goal for the future is to keep growing my skills as well as my business . I would love to do more editorial work in the future . I Also want to grow my team and be more accessible to more clients. We pride in making our clients feel amazing for their event . When we see them happy is the best feeling ever.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid happen that was very hard on my business . Having no clients because everything was closed and canceled. I took a remote job doing insurance . Working from home sitting in front of a computer 8 hours a day 5 days a week was probably the hardest because I’m a people person . The positive that came out of this was I learned a lot about insurance and realized that I am blessed to do the career that I love and enjoy . Thankfully we are back in business ! I no longer sale insurance :)
How did you build your audience on social media?
