Charity, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Taking Risks is a part of the human experience. Looking back throughout my own life, I see the many risks I have taken, beginning even as a young girl, and how these have shaped me by introducing different experiences and opportunities for personal growth, bringing me to where I am today.
I have taken some immense risks along the way. The most significant at the time was leaving my marriage of twenty years. But that great leap back then was just the beginning of many I have taken. I sold our family home and moved us to a new location during the uncertain times of Covid. I walked away from the successful and growing career I had built as a stylist and began the journey of creating my Harmonic Empress Mystery School. I have taken the pain and lessons of my past and alchemized them through my own healing journey. Now, I have the privilege and gift of following my soul path by coaching women worldwide, helping them heal their trauma, pain, and inner woundings to find freedom, self-love, and liberation within. If not for the risks I had taken, I would not be here today.
I believe there are no mistakes. Everything happens for a reason. One of my favorite quotes that was given to me when I was considering taking one of my most significant “risks” was, “There are no right or wrong choices, just different outcomes.” Hearing this and seeing my choices from a different perspective was so liberating. When we can see beyond the polarity between right, wrong, good, bad, success, and failure and witness our choices from a more neutral space, it diffuses the grip of fear we tend to operate from due to our culture’s ideas and programming. Everything we experience is simply a learning opportunity.
Since “risking it all” back in 2017, it’s as if that one act of faith unlocked something within me; a more profound sense of trust in my creator and myself and an understanding that life truly unfolds in the risks we take. Our destiny is often on the other side of fear. I am not here to play it safe, to stay in the box. I am a rule breaker, always looking for different ways to do things, to find the way that works for me! So often, we live a life that isn’t even authentically ours. We are in a career that no longer serves us, in unhealthy relationships because we are scared to leave them, and many of us are afraid of being judged by others. FEAR (false evidence appearing real) is the biggest culprit in keeping us small, and from living a life that could set us on fire, one lived with passion, joy, and excitement. By following your inner risk-taking, may you be liberated, showing others that they, too, have within them to be set free and live their greatness, whatever that is for them.
I will close with a quote from Rumi~ “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
Charity, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Yes, I’d love to! I am the founder and creator of the Harmonic Empress Mystery School, offering non-traditional modalities for deep and transformative healing by helping those who have tried all other avenues but have yet to experience lasting results. Very often, I am people’s last-ditch effort. Some of my services include sound & vibrational healing (medicine of the future will be more physics than chemistry), energy work, somatic release, past life clearings, spirit-led life coaching, womb healing, trauma-informed work, and my newest synthesis: sacred beauty, bridging a spiritual connection and sacredness to the service and ritual of hair care. Being deeply connected with my intuition, all services have a “structure” but are divinely guided; no two offerings are the same!
I work within the new paradigm of business, which invites us to live and act from the heart center and lean into the energy of consistent, inspired action vs. working in the grind, pushing & forcing outcomes. I do this by working alongside women who find themselves on their healing journeys. Some of the many ways I support them are unpacking childhood traumas, navigating spiritual awakenings, discovering then shedding untrue stories, and reprograming subconscious beliefs while co-facilitating a connection to the source of their unique inner harmony.
I had tried the ‘Western” way of healing: medications and counseling, with no long-term results. This time, I was searching for profound, lasting freedom – healing the inner separation I had lived with most of my life. Finding myself on my own healing journey back in 2017, I searched for answers to my spiritual, emotional, and mental pain. After a 20-year marriage steeped in addiction, mental/emotional abuse, and co-dependency, I was led to take action and exit the roller coaster I was on.
This was when I entered my own spiritual awakening, and this experience was pivotal for my life path. Through the internal awakening process, I was divinely guided and discovered many alternative healing modalities I previously knew nothing about. My intuition deepened and activated; synchronicity engaged and began showing the way forward. I started living from a place of trust.
From the transmutation of the pains and challenges of life to finding pleasure and peace in each moment, I now embody this and have the honor of guiding others, incorporating many of the same modalities that aided in my life’s transformation. Whether hosting retreats, online courses, in-person workshops, holding Sacred Circles, coaching women one-on-one, or even something as simple as a haircut, I provide a safe space for women to be seen, heard, held, and supported in unconditional love as they journey back home to themselves.
Have you ever had to pivot?
OH! I had to jump on this question because the word pivot keeps coming up for me and has been a word of choice lately when talking with clients and friends.
Our world is at the beginning stages of a rapid transformation. We are witnessing and will continue to see massive shifts in our lifetime. Because of this, it will be in our best interest to be flexible and pivot when necessary, remaining unattached to the way things currently are. Those who are uncomfortable and resist these changes may struggle. Still, those who can flow, shift, and pivot will inevitably have an easier time adjusting to the ever-present changes that life seems to give us. I am currently observing this within myself and others and believe we are being asked to approach life through a different lens.
In 2017 I entered cosmetology school because my marriage was on the rocks, and I needed a way to support myself and my children if the relationship ended. After graduation, I spent five years deepening my skills and growing a successful business. Only a short time into this new adventure, I experienced my Spiritual Awakening. This mysterious event began to impact me in various ways; one of those ways was my intuition opened right up! I started to hear clearly and received direction from a benevolent being greater than myself, guiding me in the opposite direction of where I was at within my career. So in May of 2021, I leaned into another great pivot in life and followed that guidance, leaving the salon business I had built and the amazing clients I had the pleasure of working with. I jumped in with both feet full-time into the Healing Arts industry and haven’t looked back! During my two years in this space, I continued on my healing journey: I learned and integrated multiple healing modalities, hired a business coach who helped me officially launch the Harmonic Empress Mystery School, and continued to gain a deeper understanding of myself. Because of the many pivots on my life path, I have discovered my calling!
Life continues to invite me to pivot: About nine months ago, I began to get little whispers guiding me to return to the business I once held within the salon industry. I heard those whispers occasionally for months but chose to ignore them. I resisted for the longest time, believing that if I went back to hair, my Harmonic Empress business would then have been a failure. Well, the little nudges became louder and more consistent, but what also happened was that the resistance to this idea began to lessen. Eventually, I realized I was creating my own story of “failure” and surrendered to trust, knowing I was being guided in this direction. It was as if my heart just opened right up! So, I chose to pivot once again. I see a beautiful full-spectrum picture now. One of adding to my life, not subtracting. I get to experience more connection, creativity, abundance, and living from my heart space by adding this Sacred Beauty service back into my life and offerings. Once I dropped the resistance, the appreciation and gratitude just came! I wasn’t returning to what was; I was heading upward and onwards in a newer, more significant direction.
So by following my heart and inner guidance, I have pivoted once again within the hair industry and am showing up differently. Through rituals, I am bringing a slowness, gentleness, and spiritual connection back into the sacredness around beauty and haircare. I offer a serene space where clients can come and relax, surrounding their senses with peaceful music, reiki healing energy, oracle cards, and herbal teas, leaving you feeling nourished, mind, body, and spirit.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
For me, it is moving and living from my heart’s center, standing on the foundation of integrity, and operating from that space while taking life as it presents itself ~ one day at a time.
We are in newer energy, and it is time for businesses to shift. People can tell when they get a sales pitch or a BS story to buy their services, programs, etc.; they don’t want that anymore.
What I witness is that people are looking for genuine, authentic help. Someone they can relate to and trust, who knows what they have gone through, not because they read it in a textbook somewhere but because they went through a similar journey and came out stronger on the other side. This genuine and authentic help is what I offer and find success in. Because of my first-hand experience, I learned to alchemize my pain and past wounds, and now I genuinely embody peace, strength, freedom, wholeness, and joy while guiding others on their healing journey so they can do the same.
