We were lucky to catch up with Becky Rickett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Becky thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Becky kicked off her career as a popular on-air personality for “Loveline” in Billings, Montana, as well as doing some voice-over work. However, after experiencing the allure of California, she took on a production manager role at Thump Records, a record label focused on low-rider classic cars with killer bass. Becky was responsible for coordinating daily new releases of CDs, cassettes, and vinyl distributed by Universal Music.
With a knack for production, Becky also tackled the role of a Creative Service Coordinator at EMI Music Special Markets, a subdivision of Capitol Records. Her work revolved around liaising with external advertising agencies (such as Eddie Bauer, Nordstroms, Starbucks, and Time-Life), while being the primary overseer of graphics for CD releases, design elements, and press checks.
Though her daytime hours were dedicated to a regular corporate role from 9-5, Becky pursued her passion for creativity and music through her venture, Big Star Production Group. By helping others translate their ideas into visual presentations of their dreams, her passion converged with her profession.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a business owner, I learned the hard way that being overly generous can actually hinder success. Though fostering a warm and inviting environment comes naturally to me, I’ve discovered the value of establishing clear boundaries to ensure the prosperity of my business. While it’s important to go above and beyond for clients, I’ve had to navigate a steep learning curve in order to strike the right balance between exceptional service and sound business practices.
