We recently connected with Megan Martineau and have shared our conversation below.
Megan, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Something my parents instilled in me at a young age was that I was capable of going after anything I wanted. Growing up, they made sure to provide me with plenty of opportunities to pursue my passions, try new things, and expand my education so that I always had options. It is because of this that when I felt myself feeling burnt out at a traditional 9-5 job, and really feeling no sense of direction or purpose, I had the courage to go out on my own and do something completely different!

Megan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always had a passion for fitness and played sports growing up, but it wasn’t until I had my first baby back in 2020 that I realized how little support moms had during this monumental physical transformation. Getting pregnant, carrying a pregnancy, giving birth to a baby, and postpartum recovery/transitioning into parenthood is very physically demanding, and there really is not a lot of support, or resources out there to support people through this period of life! When I was about 6 months postpartum, I decided to pursue a pre/postnatal fitness certification so that I could help bridge the gap from traditional fitness to pre/postnatal populations.
There are many considerations when it comes to working with this population such as understanding pelvic floor functions, core functioning and injury, and even birth traumas that impact how the body moves, as well as a mother’s mental health.
In 2021, I started my business, Vibrant Mama Wellness to help moms feel strong and confident in their bodies during pregnancy, prepare them for labor and birth, and have an easier postpartum recovery. My mission is to help moms feel vibrant throughout their motherhood journey, which is a time that typically is mentally and physically draining because you’re giving so much to your kids.
I offer virtual 1:1 personal training services and have self-paced pregnancy and postpartum programs that people can do in the comfort of their own homes, or in the gym.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before I had my first child, I had been working in Human Resources for 4 years. Since I had graduated college, I always had a traditional job working for a company and couldn’t imagine any other possibility. But once I had my baby, my entire perspective changed. I knew I wanted to have more time to spend with him and be in charge of my own schedule, however, I didn’t want to be a stay-at-home mom. I wanted to be a mom AND continue to contribute financially, as well as do something that I felt passionate about and helped others. This was when I went down the path of pre/postnatal fitness! But the scary part was, deciding to go out on my own!
When my son was 8 months old, I quit my traditional job and started working on building my own business online. I had no prior experience building a business from scratch, and really had no idea what I was doing. Now 2 years later I have a combined online audience of 80k+ and have helped hundreds of people in their pre/postnatal fitness journeys!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Social media and referrals! Establishing an online presence has been the number one factor in reaching my ideal clients. I picked two platforms to start and went all in, learning how they worked and what my ideal client was searching for. Once I was established there I was able to branch out and start collaborating with other professionals for referrals, as well as expanding to other social media platforms. It’s hard work, but the consistency pays off!
