We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Oksanna Romanov a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Oksanna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Yes, I wish I was given the opportunity to go to art school when my parents discovered I had a talent. I was 3 years old I drew on every wall and every floor, I found my element very early in life, however, born into disfunctional family in Ukraine, my parents were so young and unstable, too busy, constant survival mode & fighting… My art talent was neglected and fast forgotten. I intuitively fast found my other passion – dance, put myself in dance class and became a lead dancer and a teacher for younger kids. I started painting again when I found Kundalini yoga. For my first ever 40 days meditation – I had an inspiration to put the energy on canvas, each day for 40 days. Thats how my first painting #40 was born.
I was able to reconnect with my inner artist and create many more beautiful pieces.
I now teach Kundalini yoga and with my guidance – my students are able to discover their hidden creative potential and courageously explore their talents.
Although, I wish I started my careers sooner, it is never too late, all in divine timing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
To add to the above answer, I paint ENERGY.
When I took private classes with creative coaches, I was told to learn to create subjects, obvious meaning in my paintings. no matter what I did it felt pushed, not organic.
So I stayed with my senses and kept painting ENERGY. Soon after I was introduced to Feng Shui concepts and now teamed up with a Feng Shui expert to assist people in improving the energies in their home.
In creativity I find safety, joy, light energy, freedom, infinite self expression, alignment with divine nature, connection with the NOW. I feel one with all when I create.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to inspire others to feel safe to create and follow the path of passion courageously and to absolutely love what you do.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I feel safety, love and joy when I create and my mission is to inspire others to do the same. Any type of creativity is a direct connection to the creator and the Universe as whole.
