We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Domoohh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Domoohh below.
Alright, Domoohh thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Tbh this question is really hard for me to choose. I have so many meaningful projects that I’ve worked on in the past.
But what I can say that is the most meaningful thing about doing all of this, is that I appreciate working w ppl that I’ve started working with since I first started recording videos and photos. I love seeing the progression for a lot of the ppl I am fortunate to know and work with.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Dominic Palacios and I am from San Bernardino, CA.
Since 2010, I’ve been listening to electronic dance music. There was a strong underground movement in the area in which kids kind of dressed up like the jersey shore cast and listened to blog haus music. Shuffling was really popular and so was influences like Afrojack, Deadmau5, etc.
I listened to the music for years and I always dreamt of doing something with electronic music.
It wasn’t until 2018 that I saw a video of an aspiring Dj, that I really looked into the videographers page and the rest became history..
Since then I’ve been working with artists and I help them w video marketing. Essentially I’ll do photo and video coverage for their shows. But on the outside it is considered marketing in the sense that they can use this material to hype up a track, promote future shows, and promote themselves as artists.
Some artists include the following:
VNSSA, Black V Neck, Walker & Royce, Arnold & Lane, Ocean Roulette, and more!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding feeling and aspect of it is building with people that I enjoy working with. Their music means a lot to me, as it does for their fans. So I always strive to make sure that their creative ideas are matched.
Also another rewarding aspect of it is seeing the work that I create for them being featured in popular social media channels, blog sites, etc.
Lastly, I enjoy traveling and going to all these fests w the artists. I love this life and I wouldn’t trade it
Have you ever had to pivot?
I was stressed asf when the pandemic hit. It was a time when I really didn’t know what was going to happen for me and my future in this. I wasn’t even known for what I do and honestly I was barely going to get booked for a few shows.
With no resources, I had to make the most of the material I had of an artist that is a friend of mine and I make marketing material to help promote his tracks.
And luckily with the power of livestreams, I was able to screen record artists playing my friend and other artists tracks in which they could promote those clips onto their page.
I also created video campaigns in which I edited creative videos which would then be used to promote certain tracks, etc.
