We recently connected with Desiree’ Seymore and have shared our conversation below.
Desiree’, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
I found a passion in healthcare due to my personal health journey and witnessing how health issues affected family and friends from living sustainable lives. My mother passed away suddenly from preventable health issues. She went from living a sustainable, joyous life, caring for everyone else but failed to take the time to focus on her own health. Preventative care is the sector of healthcare I will focus on in my future career as a Doctor.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Desiree’ Seymore. I am married with 3 children and 4 bonus children. I am a Healthcare Manager, currently the Center Manager at one of Biomat’s Plasmapheresis centers located in Tuscaloosa AL. I am a REALTOR brokered by eXp Realty. I recently graduated from the University of Alabama where I obtained a Master’s in Public Health (MPH). I have been accepted into Walden University where I plan to pursue a doctorate in Public Health in the fall of 2023. I will eventually open a Preventative Healthcare Practice. My husband owns a trucking company where he is teaching me the ends and odds of running this type of business. I am a Director for a non-for-profit organization called Diamonds In the Rough (DITR). DITR is a community-based organization that helps individuals in all public sectors. I am a praise team leader at New Harvest Church of God. My passion is to help people live at their highest potential physically, mentally, and spiritually. I understand we are developed to build a lifestyle of obtaining financial freedom, but finances don’t hold value if you are not physically or mentally capable of spending the money. “Health is Wealth.”
I am proud of the accomplishments I have achieved in life thus far and I am proud of my family and friends. I love going to the beach or just being by water, relaxing spa days, music, art, working out, attending comedy shows, and I recently started gardening.
I believe you have to face life in a positive manner. Learning how to balance my life has taught me to manage my time wisely.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
January 10, 2021, I suddenly lost my mother and my cousin. Through these tragic heartbreaking events I started my Master degree program 3 days later. I was already set to start, so I chose to be strong and remind myself of the end goal. My mother was so happy when I originally got accepted in hard school and I could not let her down. I also suddenly lost my grandfather January 16, 2021. These tragedies affected me in a way of uncertainty, but I used the faith my mom instilled inside of me to handle her business and mine. To know my mother was to love her, she was also my best friend. This was so heartbreaking to my family and I. My mother was a hardworking, loving, God fearing woman who never met a stranger. She accomplished every goal and broke many barriers for our family. She was/is my superwoman. I strive to mimic based on her beliefs, ethics, morals, strength, and the love for her family. I chose to continue pursuing my degree to make her proud and not fold when times get tough. During my first year in my Master program, I also pursued my Real Estate license and became a licensed REALTOR in the state of Alabama. My oldest son was also entering his last year of high-school so we were going trying to learn how to create a new narrative knowing he would be off to college in another state. I was so hurt by the loss of my mother, I think the best way for me to cope was to continue setting goals, creating plans, and staying busy. I had to be resilient for myself and my family.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think being relatable helped build my reputation in my market. Within my current healthcare career as a Center Manager over a plasma donation center, I can relate to the patient base due to being a recipient of plasma. I experienced a sudden health scare in 2011 which almost took my life. I coded three times and was being pronounced dead when God chose to keep me on this earth. The health scare came from me taking birth control pills which developed tumors on my liver. One of the unknown tumors ruptured which caused internal bleeding. I had no idea my body developed these tumors and was informed about them on the day I almost died. I had to receive plasma in order to continue to live.
I am relatable to my real estate clients because I have been on both ends of the buyer and selling process. I have had the pleasure of experiencing these processes and am able to connect to the real estate clients I serve. I also have a passion to help people and instill in them my learned knowledge. Life experiences is the best test partnered with seeking knowledge. God is the head of my life and with him I believe I can do anything I set my mind to concur.
