We recently connected with Nick Casey and have shared our conversation below.
Nick, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I would definitely say that I am happy pursuing this career as a country singer. As I get older, I do have my days where I wonder if I’m doing the right thing or, if all this work going to pay off. It can be hard not to compare your success to what old friends are doing, even if they are not on the same career path. I have been playing music professionally for ten years. I have seen enough minor success to believe I am doing the right path.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a country singer/songwriter from Rhode Island. I began performing when I was 16 years old. Ever since that first performance, I knew I wanted to chase this dream as far as I could. My band and I perform country music that is more rooted in the traditional sounds of the genre. In the four years of having a band, we have played various festivals, opened for national country acts and put out our debut album with a second one on the way!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Ever since I began performing, there was one country music venue on my radar to perform at. That is Loretta’s Last Call in Boston. Year after year, I would email them trying to book a show. I always felt that my band would do a great job entertaining their crowd with something different. Last June, we finally had the chance to do so. Since then, we have been invited back there numerous times. It never gets old.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
There so many ways someone can support an artists. A lot of that is through word of mouth and social media. Following a singer’s social media accounts, engaging and sharing their content is all very beneficial.
