Jasmin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Becoming an entrepreneur has been a great experience with rough patches in between like anything else in life . I took a risk knowing that I had to fund my business using my own money because of not having the proper resources or information on building a business with capital funding and business credit . So I’m essence , I lost a lot financially building this business but I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and experience with it as well .
Jasmin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jasmin Galloway and I am the CEO of Forty-too Skincare . I would always receive compliments on how beautiful and youthful my skin appeared so I wanted to share with the world my beauty secrets. Growing up I didn’t like the color of my skin so I would hide it with makeup but one day I decided not to hide it anymore. It was that day I received so many compliments on my skin, I was completely shocked . I’ve been in healthcare for twenty years but I couldn’t find my niche . I’ve enjoyed my journey but I always wanted more . So forty-too came to me a few years ago be I I knew that I would be approaching the age of forty , so the brand is to inspire other that you can be -any age no matter if it’s late in life and do it too ! That’s where you get forty-too from . This brand is to inspire and motivate anyone that it never too late for anything .
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was applying for a kiosk in a mall for the last year and a half and I was denied , but I was never told the reason of why I was denied . I had at least applied three times. So one day I decided to try another mall and I remained consistent with emails , phone calls and follow ups to see if I was approved, the approval came.I was so happy because at that time , I felt like maybe it wasn’t my time to be in that particular mall . Remaining positive and never giving up led to my successful kiosk and online store platforms .
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Never compromising who I am for sales or likes . I feel like once you identify your avatar and their needs , everything else will line up. not everyone is meant to be your customer. Once you identify the problem you are fixing that is what drives your sales in.
