We were lucky to catch up with Allie Muñoz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Allie, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I have always loved photography since I was a little girl. I took photos of everything – literally. I never thought, however, that I would actually be able to turn it into a business. In 2021, I bought a camera content kit because I wanted to try to be a content creator/influencer. I quickly found that I didn’t have a passion for that. But I fell back in love with photography after years of it being in the background as a past-time. I attended my first styled shoot in April of 2022 which is really when I took the plunge to learn about wedding photography, the right lenses, lighting, composition, posing, finances, etc. I always had an eye for photography, so getting creative was easy for me, but figuring out my style was a little harder. Once I found my style, I dove deeper into investing in a computer, better camera, better lenses and creating my own website. I then officially launched my company “Right Up Your Allie Photography” and got my LLC a year later in April 2023! To own my own business is so rewarding! I get to be creative and watch my own growth every day and it’s amazing!
Allie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always loved photography as a hobby, for as long as I can remember (more detail in the last question) but in 2022 launched it officially as a Wedding and Elopement photography business! One thing I really would love people to know is that I come from a travel background. I grew up traveling everywhere with my parents since my dad is a pilot so traveling has always been a passion of mine, and I will travel anywhere to document your wedding or elopement! I’m really proud of how much I’ve grown and how I took this dive to launch my own business. Seeing my growth over the last year has been very rewarding. I have truly loved connecting with my brides and grooms and walking with them through their journey to marriage. I value creating relationships and friendships with my couples, and making them confident in choosing me and trusting me with capturing their day. My style is more crisp & colorful with a little bit of artsy/grainy vibes. I truly love emphasizing the color of the day and don’t love to overly saturate my work. My couples work really hard to design and craft their wedding day to match their vision so I make sure to showcase that in all my photos so that my couples can truly relive their day for years to come! As a person, I am really outgoing and silly and you will definitely catch me on the dance floor on your wedding day! I always love to bring laughs and a lot of energy to your wedding day because I know it can be exhausting – but it’s one of the best and most exciting days of your life and I am there for you the whole day!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I first started connecting with influencers in the area and offering free photo shoots. This allowed me to get in front of a wide variety of people on social media, and through that, I got more followers, and eventually with continuing to post on social and promote my website, I got inquiries!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Keeping in touch with clients is huge for wedding photographers! I truly value building a relationship with my couples, so I offer unlimited consultations, which is a fancy way of saying they can contact me whenever throughout the day – for any questions! I am happy to answer questions, help them with planning, recommend things for their day, etc. For me, it’s all about the experience and I want my clients to feel like they are truly taken care of, and can trust me. I am on their side, no matter what, so I always try to build that through conversations and building relationships.
