Hi Fancy, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

There’s always a back story to the execution and mine came thru the trials of pandemic and being on lockdown’! Sitting at home and working from home gave me so much downtime! So a lot of time was spent on social media and just reevaluating life ! I have been into fashion from young girl so people always ask me why you don’t start a clothing line ! During the downtime it made me think what’s is less cost effective to start that want be discouraging due to start up fee! So I had a trucker hat that was plain and I seen a some charm bracelets this lady was making and I’m like I’m gonna ask her where she got the trinkets from ! She was very sweet about it and sold me hers that she had left and gave me the distributor info ! Forever grateful! I thin made my hat and decided to do a lil at home photo shoot with the hat ! Because of my good social media following I’m like post it. everyone at home so they flooding social media! That was the best decision I made ! I got so much positive feedback and love from my post I said dm me to purchase ! This was 2021 fast forward to 2023 and I can say those hats started my brand and online boutique ! I hand sewn over 250 hats by hand ! Proud of Me ! I then got a logo made and started getting my paperwork in order ! So I could be legit ! After deciding to do a lounge wear sets I found a distributor threw Alibaba ! After receiving several samples I narrow it down and ordered! I did well with the sets but it was very difficult keeping up with orders thru DM so I bought my domain and launched my website September 2021 ! I did very well I sold almost everything from my first signature pieces, that was humbling! 2023 I wanted to level up so I got new logos and launched my Unisex Brand “Fearless Dmeanor “ which I put a lot into promoting with visuals and promo models ! Business has been steady , and I have so much in store ! I really can say started from the bottom now we here !

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Sending love & light to those who have never seen or heard about Fancy Dmeanor! I was raised on Eastside of Atlanta! Born Kandice but industry knows me as Fancy ! I started in the Atlanta underground scene as a female MC name Dmeanor that turn to building several industry relationships ! One of childhood friends had a promotional company named SmurfWorld whom I work with and made many good relationships and social media following a lot of that following was because I’m known to always be fly with the fashion ! So once the pandemic hit and club scene died down I came to conclusion to stay in mix but on what I love FASHION! I launched Fancy Dmeanor in 2020 and started with my signature trucker hats that had popular clothing label trinkets on them that I sewed by hand ! I then advanced to women’s clothing like T-shirt’s , blouses and accessories! To today I’ve started my Unisex Brand which consist of a dope logo branded apparel from sweatshirts to swim wear! What sets me apart is I will wear whatever I sale ! I am not just looking for a one time shopper , I’m looking for a consistent client that’s willing to grow with me and my business and trust I want disappoint! One thing my business has stood on is any custom items purchased if any issues or defective products I replace FREE of charge ! I don’t know many small business’s that do that ! I do that in appreciation that you will shop with me in future and know I value your money and know it’s a blessing you spend with me ! With my Brand Fancy Dmeanor I stand on customer service, quality and satisfaction so anyone who has purchased from me knows I am hands on with my business from orders to promotions so I whatever I gotta do to keep a return client I will ! I am Proud that I took that leap of faith ! This was a goal and Dream that seem so far ash and I did it ! We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Social media has its good and bad ! But for the good it can be life changing! I remember years ago begging people to follow my instagram from my facebook account! It’s like you get complacent with thinking pnoy people from facebook will follow you on insta because you not realizing they have their own audience! So I just started posting consistently on IG whether it was motivating or what fly fit I wore on weekend’s! It’s crazy cause old IG algorithms went by how much you post so it would push your reach out ! So I remember hitting five K and I’m like ok then they catching on! Lol I then included my nightlife moments and that put me to 10K and then boom I’m at 30k I have lost some so I’m at like 25k but they still watching ! Advice to those just starting give them content to set yourself apart from others ! Create you lane and be consistent with it ! I’m telling it will come the traffic !

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I funded my business with money I saved to buy my house ! I purchased my home right before the pandemic! Then boom we on lockdown so money spending went down and I’m sitting on some money so I said take money to make money ! I bought supplies from a distributor I got from someone and I went on Alibaba and found my other vendors !
