Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sirr Woods. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sirr, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I wish I would’ve started earlier because throughout my high school years the only thing I did was play football and weightlift. I wish I would have started music when i was at least 16 or 17 because I would’ve had more time to improve my craft plus I would’ve had way more exposure. I have a feeling if I would started out with music instead of everything else I would have more opportunities knocking then I have now.

Sirr, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started making music during my senior year of high school but I didn’t take it seriously until I graduated. I took it as me and my cousins having fun and joking around but then I started to see my views going up and everyone said that I sounded good and I could turn it to a craft so I did and a year later I went on my first 8 city tour. After that I stayed recording and writing constantly but one of the main things that made me stay on the music track was when someone told me “You look famous like u don’t belong here” and that opened my eyes and made me think about how many doors I let close so I took heed and focused on music and eventually 2 years later I got contacted by a label in Canada for a deal but I couldn’t go because I didn’t have my passport. Everyone said it was a wasted opportunity but when I look at it I see it as myself progressing and moving forward to prove that im actually a decent artist and could go far if I push myself.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn to not trust everyone and and hold my own and even though this was a good time in my life it was also one of the hardest because even thought I was on tour it was a time when I had no money and I was traveling just to get my name out so when I went to Columbus I had to call my family for help to get home because I didn’t have a way back after the show ended. The MAIN reason i went through these troubles is because the person i went on tour had me pay for everything even though he was the one running the “Lable” he “Owned”. I was struggling on my own even though I had some people who could’ve helped me for free but instead made me pay when we where supposed to be all together.
Any advice for managing a team?
Always have communication, keep your team engaged, if one person falls short figure out the problem and work through it If nothing can be done then let them go, also keep and open mind to new ideas and never stick on one thing for too long at least that what I go by everyone has there own way so find yours.
