We were lucky to catch up with Krystal Souza recently and have shared our conversation below.
Krystal , appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Since working with so many entrepreneurs across the globe, one of the things that I hear often is “I wish I had started my business sooner”. Sharing your gifts with the world is both nerve wrecking and exciting all at the same time, and when you experience success that little voice in your head might start saying “I wish I had started sooner”. If there’s one thing ive learned from being in business for four years is that your business comes at the right time. Maybe sooner you weren’t in a place to take it seriously, maybe sooner you wouldn’t have been able to manage your finances as well. Your business and your gifts always come at the right time. I know for me personally if I would’ve made the money I make now in my early twenties I would’ve absolutely blown it, because there were life lessons I had to learn in the in-between . I had to grow as a person both inside and out to hold and effectively manage the business I have now. That’s not to say that things still don’t come up but with every up level in business, new things surface within me that have to be worked on as well. You see business has a funny way of bringing up all your triggers and bringing them up fast, so you have to be willing and ready to take things head on and grow with your business. So while maybe you wish you would’ve started your business sooner, it all happened at the perfect time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
So I actually started my business by teaching donation based yoga classes at my local park in Southern California I knew growing up that I wanted to help people in an impactful way but I never felt called to be doctor. I pursued my bachelors and went to school for years in order to be a teacher. But when it came time to actually be the teacher it didn’t sit well with me, because I knew I wanted something more. I knew I wanted to help people on a more impactful level. With starting my yoga classes I also dove head first into the world of personal development and healing. From there I birthed my life coaching business and later added business coaching to it. Watching my clients go from disempowered to empowered to booking their first client is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. I have watched so many of my clients grow and create life altering changes. This is something teaching never gave me. I actually just created a whole new program called the Sacred Creatrix for new entrepreneurs, who are searching on how they can create they own business online. This program is super high touch, meaning that I walk with you every step of the way from creating your offer to booking your first client. (and don’t forget all the healing in between). I love what I do and I want everyone who feels called to experience this as well.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Starting your own business is as I stated previously scary and exciting all at the same time. In the first few years of my business I continued to play with the idea of returning to a 9-5 because for me at that time I felt that it would be the most stable. This belief kept popping up from time to time up until recently when I worked through unlearning that a 9-5 would solve all my problems. I really had to sit down with myself and face the underlying reason that this kept coming up. Eventually I realized that it boiled down to my programming that i had grown up with. We go into school and are taught that 9-5 is the only option. While this works for many people, it wasn’t for me. I had to sit and honor this part of me with love but also ultimately release that. I love what I do and I love the people that I help. Quite frankly I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Creating from a place of wanting to help people, when I first started my business , I wanted to help EVERYONE. As soon as I announced my life coaching business in the online space I was flooded with people who wanted help, people who had been searching for someone with the same expertise I have. When my inbox started flooding with people who were looking for help, I instantly began working through the messages. It felt so good to help people! However I couldn’t continue to help people for free, I would spend hours chatting with people and not offer them a call or charge for my time. This almost led me to burning out while my bills remained unpaid. It was then that I had to decide to set boundaries, that I couldn’t just keep helping people for free. So I had to set a boundary of how much free help I would offer and what it would look like vs. what I would have to start charging for.
