We recently connected with Anthony Dain and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I ask myself this question from time to time. Wondering if I would be further along in my career had I started earlier; I don’t think so. I think I’m right where I belong. My creative path isn’t the same as anyone else, we all learn and grow at our own pace, and I think, for me anyway, I needed to learn to fail at so many other jobs/skills/career paths before I was able to find this one. I think if I started early, I might not have had the love and appreciation for the craft that I have now.
Granted I didn’t just show up one day as an actor, I experienced theater out of high school, I had a short career as a magician in collage, and I’ve been doing impersonations and cosplaying since I was 20 years old. So in a way, I HAVE been doing this for a long time, but like I said before, I think learning these skills early on and not looking at it professionally really helped guide me to where I am now

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Anthony Dain and I’m an Actor. Lately I’d say I’m more of a film maker, dabbling behind the camera for some of my own personal projects, but overall my passion is in Acting.
Growing up I’ve always been interested in playing pretend; I didn’t do sports and I wasn’t very active. I spent most of my time playing games and wondering which Power Ranger I wanted to be.
My aunt and grandma would often take me to theater productions, which is probably what started my interest in acting in general.
I moved around with my mother during grade school, finally landing in an art centralized high school where I was able to actually experience acting on stage for the first official time.
Out of high school I got into doing birthday parties and events as a magician. From there I started sewing and building my own costumes so I could attend the local renaissance festival. That lead me to comiccon and other conventions, allowing me to dress up as other famous fictional characters like Jack Sparrow and Spider-Man.
It wasn’t until an actor friend of mine, Dan Nye introduced me to his agent, I did a read for them and signed. Never thinking it was actually possible to become an actor, I was determined to explore the opportunity. I’m been acting professionally ever since.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Honestly the only thing we really want is to be seen. Not to be confused with the whole “follow/like/share/subscribe” culture we’re being bombarded with, that’s entirely different. As a creative, we simply want an audience. As an actor that’s all I want; I want you to see me perform.
The best way to do support us is to watch us. Whether it means come to our show, rent our movie, buy a painting, share our gift with your friends – help show us to the world

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The single most rewarding aspect of my career is knowing that someone was able to break free from the concern or struggle they may be facing by relating to a character I’ve portrayed in a story. Knowing that there are others out there going through something similar, and somehow find solace is coping with their own story
