Chaehyung, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?

If I get the chance, I want to start my career as soon as possible if given the opportunity. Even now, if I were to call it a career, it could be considered one, but I believe I need to put in more effort to achieve my goals. My ultimate goal is to become a well-known artist and have my own exhibitions that everyone can recognize. Therefore, I sell my artwork step by step to work towards holding exhibitions. However, there are limitations to solely relying on selling my artwork. Additionally, I want to join a company to secure capital and gain social experience. Working at a company would also allow me to grow as a freelancer in a different career path. For these reasons, I prefer to gradually build my career rather than starting late.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am an artist based in South Korea and LA. I started art naturally because both of my parents did art. Also, I firmly believe that my art should promote healing and laughter rather than addressing complex problems or difficult subjects. My goal as an artist, is to create artwork that vividly expresses my creativity and unique perspective, allowing my audience to experience a sense of visual novelty and joy. Ultimately, my aim is to elicit smiles and provide a brief respite from the rigors of daily life.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to infuse Korean cultural elements into my artwork. I firmly believe that this unique quality sets me apart as an artist who can foster diversity in the public eye. I also dedicate myself to exploring creative and lighthearted ways of expressing Korean paintings, while continuously experimenting with a variety of materials to enhance the overall diversity of my artistic practice.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

This is because the essence of my artistic journey is centered around bringing smiles to people’s faces and providing them with a momentary escape from the challenges of everyday life. While I find great happiness in observing the outcome of my arduous creative process, it is the deep sense of gratification and fulfillment that serves as my guiding motto, continually inspiring me to create new works.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My ultimate goal is to persistently engage in the world of art and create diverse works using various materials and software. While I have expressed my dream of exhibiting in a gallery, I see it as just the initial dream in my artistic journey, rather than the final aspiration of my life. As an artist, I believe it is crucial to consistently contemplate and explore new approaches, never giving up when faced with challenges. Continuously pursuing and realizing these dreams remains my primary objective.
