We were lucky to catch up with Master Mold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Master thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Nether, I stared exactly when I was supposed to. Sure, there was a point where I felt maybe if I started sooner, I would be in a much better position but I didn’t have anything substantial to say. My creativity grew while dealing with adversity throughout the last 5 years. Music is therapeutic and distracted from the uncontrollable. In turn, I learned to enjoy and appreciate the journey.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Master Mold. I am a Rapper, Producer, DJ and Painter. I’ve been active for about 5 years. Music is the perfect way for me to express myself. I take pride in my ability to create something unique and authentic to myself.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The best part about being a creative is learning a new skill (like painting) and the end result turning out far better than anticipated. Being able to try something new then bring what I’ve learned to music and create something unique is an amazing feeling.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Give artist the time and space to grow creatively. The idea of consistently releasing content to stay “relevant” can put an immense amount of pressure on ones shoulders. Artist, anyone really, need time to grow and experience life in order to become themselves and make something of value. If communities saw artist as an evolving person then they wouldn’t feel like a machine with no stop in sight.
