We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rayy Stackz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rayy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
I recently was offered the opportunity to open up for artist Webbie with “Badd Azz Savage Life Ent” in Owensboro, Kentucky through promoters Fam Mob & TNT Ent. One of Webbie’s A&R scouts named Hope Anjere actually scouted me, and presented me with an opportunity to be a member of Bad Azz Savage Life Ent and also I was offered a chance to present my music at a private listening session after the show.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I Raynall Bolton, known professionally as Rayy Stackz am an American rapper and a growing influential figure in Memphis Hip Hop. I am becoming a rising star within the underground culture. I began pursuing my rap career in 2017. Things began to heat up for me after releasing a series of singles. The momentum of the singles gained the attention of the audience in Memphis as well as other surrounding areas and created a space an opportunity for me to work with La Chat best known for her association with “Hypnotize Minds”. I was also presented another opportunity to collaborate with La Chat, Glorilla on “Mafia Status produced by DJ CBee Supreme.
Some of the services I offer are verses, hooks, collaborations, and I also have a T-shirt brand as well known as “Stackin Season”. I believe my music motivates people who may have been in my shoes before or who have been in similar situations.
What sets me apart from others is my grind, my mindset, my independence, my uniqueness, my go get it mentality, and my ability to never give up on my dreams and goals. I recently enrolled into school and I am taking up dental assisting while still pursuing my music career. My ability to strive and explore different avenues is also what makes me so unique.
What I am most proud of is how I continue to succeed and grow not only an artist and entrepreneur, but also as a woman. One of biggest accomplishments this year was winning female rap artist of the year at the “Memphis Hip Hop Awards”.
I would like my fans to know that I have so much more content, music, and more in store for them. I also want them to know to never give up on their dreams, goals, or aspirations. Everyone has a path and journey in life and it’s up to you to complete it. Never let anyone get in the way or discourage you! My fans and supporters are my motivation to keep going.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As an artist and creative, I feel you’re always placed in tedious situations. These situations test your loyalty, drive, ambition, will power, and many more obstacles to see in if you are able to still progress and push through.
One of the biggest moments I had to show resilience was this year after my last eat freestyle on “Famous Animal Tv”. One of my long time producers “Youngn2Live” passed unexpectedly months after attending the “Famous Animal Tv” platform, and watching me freestyle one of my most streamed songs “Famous Flow”.
It’s sad to see someone who you worked with, grew with, and could always count on leave. I was so comfortable with recording with 2Live and could call him and give him beat ideas and we would be able to put them together.
Even after our hardest and most challenging moments we must still remand the end goal, and pursue the dreams we have as well as make the ones we love and lost proud!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being an artist, entrepreneur, creator, and business owner is the journey itself. Being an entrepreneur and aiming to create generational wealth, and gain revenue from what you love doing requires patience, knowledge, being able to be teachable, understanding, and more. You have to be able to endure the journey and not give up. You have to be able to believe in yourself when no one else does. It creates self confidence, creativity, memories of how far you’ve came, and shows you by putting in work you are able to get results.
