Derica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As you know when I first begun my entrepreneurship journey I started my journey as an online swimwear boutique.
The swimwear idea was me more so of veneering off into my OWN LANE, I am from TAMPA,FL and my community was full of clothing boutiques. so I figured I’d push more what’s not always on hand for the community. The first step i took before i even decided “SUNKISSED SWIMWEAR’ was looks lol, I found my first three looks and as I was coordinating wit vendors its like my body felt an enthusiasm, excitement. That’s when it hit me like, okay lets think of your BRAND NAME, and this is really really funny but i am going to go ahead and share with you guys.. So my favorite color is orange lol, it totally complement my skin tone. So i knew the color i wanted to consider my brand color , as i was drinking my fav soda orange Fanta, i just screamed out SUNKISSED, SUNKISSED SWIM. than i was like no that’s not a ring, and rethought it again and screamed out SUNKISSED SWIMWEAR and from that moment my was goal was to make SUNKISSED a global company.
I later begin coordinating networking events thought my community, influencing many entrepreneurs to promote their brand on many different platforms and stages and not just via social media. Coordinating those events lead me to my passion of offering an service that will continue to help business owner businesses scale and grow without using their own hard earned money but optimizing’s (opm) other people’s money. As i begin helping relatives and friends gain access to business’ capital, i decided to not only help those surrounded by me but the many aspiring business owners and business’ owners that struggle with obtaining the knowledge and tools to obtain business credit and gain access to the capital to no longer struggle with growing your business or not being able to obtain access to business capital.
I do later on in the years once I have built a strong enough team plan to rebrand into an consultation firm with paralegals, notary and bankers within my own personal consultation firm. I often look back on the swimwear journey and be like “yeah ima drop, ima drop” and just never pick up the passion for it, I fell in love with witnessing my service helps others. I thrive off my clients performance once they obtain the knowledge.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I NATURALLY built my audience on my platform. And I empathize on NATURALLY because so many new entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs within my timeline i have seen for years, they have this thing of thinking SHOWING UP PERFECT or HAVING SUCH AND SUCH MANY FOLLOWERS will align within your targeted audience or will gain more exposure within your brand . Honestly, when you are aligned within your purpose, that’s going to shine through you, that’s what’s going to attract sales/customers.
It’s so easy to tell when things are FORCED or its not authentic. So my best advice to those trying to build media audience just be AUTHENIC, show up as the induvial you ARE and not what you want people to see.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Networking, Sunkissed service is a service based business’ so I’m providing an services that I can provide results of the services I offer.
So, I’m always out networking meeting likeminded business owners and aspiring business’ owners inviting them to check out my platform to see the results I’m producing within my clients results. Even when I’m out networking, i pass out my contact information/services within the room for refences. Word of mouth is the best reference, it builds another confirmation of TRUST within the clients.
I tell everyone i encounter when they ask for advice on growing their platform, NETWORKING.
Who can promote your brand better than the owner itself? You are the face of your brand, promote yourself and not just on one platform, network amongst those not in your industry as well,
