We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amaya Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amaya below.
Amaya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
For me, it was a gradual realization that came about during my pre-teen years. I had always been interested in the arts, whether it was modeling, dancing, or singing, but I never considered it as a viable career path. It wasn’t until I started exploring different creative outlets more seriously and receiving positive feedback from others that I began to consider it as a potential career path.
Amaya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a beauty/fashion content creator and micro influencer. I have always been fascinated with the idea of using modeling as a form of creative expression. At some point it was just a hobby until I started taking it seriously. I started sharing my content on social media platforms like Instagram and Tiktok, and have since refined my skills in styling, editing, and photography. What makes me most proud of my work is my authentic and unique approach to making content. Whether it’s experimenting with unique makeup looks, or exploring emerging trends, my creativity shines through in every piece of content.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in creating content is to express myself in the most creative and meaningful ways possible. This allows me to inspire people in a way that allows them to explore their own sense of beauty and style.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn in my journey of content creation and influencing is that you have to look a certain way to be successful. In the recent years on social media we, especially women, are told that we have to have a specific body type and/or style to be popular or grow your platform on social media. It took for me to embrace my own unique look and see other unique creators to understand that you can be successful and inspire others by being your authentic self.
