We recently connected with Tangi Singleton-Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Tangi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission is simple. Our children are suffering and need us. Many suffer in silence because they feel unheard or unsafe. I wanted to create a safe space for the children. I wanted the children to not only be heard but also receive empowerment love encouragement and so much more. The saying is your attitude determines your altitude. Our children cant grow without a positive attitude or by feeling unsafe. I wanted to change that and help them be all of that and more. That is why our team is dedicated to children everywhere to help them go to their highest potential.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an all around big hearted person who loves serving others. Im an everyday student who loves to learn new things but also a teacher. I have a passion for cooking travel arts and crafts and self care. I believe in the power of connection and community which is why Destined for Greatness was birthed. It was birthed when I noticed that many things I had growing up as a kid were slowly disappearing, some even becoming completely obsolete. As a mother of two, I wanted to give my children something to do with their friends. My house was always the spot for all the neighborhood children and my children’s friends; truthfully, it still is. My passion for mentoring children came from these everyday interactions with the children and listening to what it was that they wanted and needed. From there, I made it my mission to work with youth and the community with every fiber of my being.
I am a Director and Lead Mentor for Destined for Greatness Mentoring and Outreach. My specialty has always been working with youth and community outreach. My love for community outreach and youth deepened when I worked for the health department doing case management for new mothers, mothers, and young children. At this point, I started to further educate myself on nonprofit organizations, community outreach, and more. I’ve always had a background in the medical field and social work field. Even my teenage summer job was working with CPS and social services. I started working as a unique education one-to-one and teacher assistant for the state at an alternative school that serviced several Maryland counties. Once there, everyone said I had a sparkle in my eye, and I truly believe my love for children deepened even more. From planning group activities, lesson plans, classroom delegation, and decoration, I knew my calling was to serve the children. So my specialty, in my opinion, is mentoring and nurturing youth, giving back to the community, event planning, and so much more. I am known for being that outgoing go-getter with a big heart. I love being of service to people of all ages, especially children and senior citizens. I am most proud of my steps, accomplishments thus far, and the name I have created for myself among my peers in business. Something that sets me apart from others is MY HEART. I have a big heart and love giving and helping people. That’s my happiness and my purpose. I do anything for the next person, and seeing them happy is my reward.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice for managing a team is accept people for who they are, let them use their strengths for the betterment of the business , help develop their weaknesses into strengths, encourage support and empathize and celebrate everything no matter how big or small because their hard work went into it. As well as any win for the company is a win for then because without them this wouldn’t be possible.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The things that helped me build my reputation within my market is my work ethic, my character, my resilience and my team. Without any of them or those things i wouldn’t be where I am. The support of my family especially my personal cheerleaders and heartbeats Trè, Jazzi and my Dad along with so many others is what has allowed me to here professionally.
