We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Gonzalez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
It takes a vast amount of creativity. You must always think about a new way of doing things or understand how your industry is changing. eLearning is one of the latest fields with many opportunities, from course creation to podcasts to online coaching; the possibilities are infinite! When I started my eLearning company, we focused mainly on traditional virtual tutoring and then saw that we could offer more to everyone. We knew how to create lesson materials, how to instruct students and utilize technology, so we began making courses to help further build the eLearning community to help people continue to learn outside of the traditional education institutions.

Jessica, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started working in the eLearning industry during the pandemic as it was a way to help sustain myself and was a new field I was interested in. I started working for an online English teaching company and soon discovered different platforms and categories where people used the internet to learn. From language to academics, I began tutoring in all subjects. Eventually, I realized that the materials I would create would help benefit other educators, so I began to sell them on marketplaces and complete a new form of income. I could see that this could be a great way to expand in the eLearning field, and thus we started making courses. We get to help experts in their field help share their knowledge and build their brand by contributing to the education sphere. We go above and beyond to help creators because we must understand a student’s perspective for the best experience possible. Seeing students of all ages enjoy learning by utilizing technology has become the passionate mission of my company as we love exploring the new ways that people are learning out there.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to understand that it is normal to accept help from others because it is tough to do all of this on your own. I managed to handle most of the operations independently, but I realized that was too much to take on as I grew. Marketing, social media, payments, scheduling, appearances, etc. I understo
od why many creatives hesitate to ask for help because we are giving away some of our hard work to someone else. But, when I hired my first VA, I realized that I was building a team that wanted to go along with me for the ride to help grow the company.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth is excellent, and I prefer it in terms of getting to know my clients and allowing myself not to be a mysterious figure behind a screen. Get yourself out of there and be honest with others about how you can help them and grow as a person, company, etc. It is all about being present.
