We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara Schroeder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.
Alright, Sara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success takes one really important thing: the thoughts you think. Thoughts about you, first and foremost, and then, thoughts about your business, others, what it means to serve, the impact you want to make, and thoughts about consistently taking action
One of my favorite definitions is “success is faith in action.” We’re always going to be uncertain–that’s a guarantee in life, right? So, success happens with, or without, that action. Our thoughts give us reasons why we CAN or CAN’T do something…and, we take action, or don’t, because of that.
Every single person has the power to be successful: not only the power, but the ability, the resources, and the capability. Success boils down to whether we are courageous enough to take that step, have those failures, see those mistakes…and push forward anyways because we have the faith in knowing that there are infinite possibilities out there, so one will absolutely work out!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Absolutely! I’m Sara Schroeder, and my passion and mission is to help business owners ask themselves different questions that will help them build a more positive mindset and get the results they want.
I’ve always loved teaching and coaching; I’ve been a Professor, a Group Fitness Franchise Owner, and now, a Mindset Coach. For me, teaching and coaching is about asking people questions so that they realize they’ve always had the answer inside of them. There’s nothing more exciting than watching clients’ eyes light up when they come to an awareness and see exactly how they can change their situation, understand their purpose, gain clarity, and take action!
Working together is a fun, safe environment where it’s all about becoming aware of where you are right now, and using those thoughts to create new questions that will help you grow. I always love asking people “What do you want?” And, they want me to get more specific. But, that’s the thing: people don’t always know what they want until they start talking, and they realize something they’ve wanted just pours out of them that they never knew before!
Our coaching relationship centers around how we’re judging/self-sabotaging ourselves and our business, and then, creates a written plan of action of what you actually want. The best part about this is that while we start in one area, most of the time, it catapults into a completely new area that creates brand new avenues of revenue, relationships, support, and impact!
I’m your #1 Supporter! But also…I am not here to hold your hand and say, “it’s ok, let’s just stay right here forever.” NO! It’s ok to marinate on a thought for a bit to realize where it’s coming from, but then…what do you want? To take action, or stay the same? I help my clients see where they’re getting tired of the repeated results and want something more
Being with my clients sets my soul on fire–it helps ME with my own struggles, and it is pure joy to see when they have breakthroughs that show them they’ve had the answers inside themselves all along!
One of my absolute favorite stories is with a client who achieved initial success: the compensation trip, the six figures, the confidence. This client had a new goal of purchasing a house in a particular school district, and it was during a time when the housing market wasn’t great. After viewing some houses, the client said, “I am probably going to put a bid on this house. It’s ok, not my favorite, but it does have a lot of great qualities.” I asked, “is that what you really want?” and they responded, “no, but Sara, I can’t just make the house I want appear out of thin air!”
To which I asked, “why not?” Not because I thought that were possible–it was to show this client how to think in a different perspective rather than scarcity with what they were currently seeing. I asked them to think in terms of what they HAVEN”T seen yet. The end of that day, my client called me and said, “You are not going to believe this. I found a lot to build a house that’s in my budget. In my school district. Exactly what I wanted!” so…the client actually DID create thoughts that made a house seemingly “appear” out of thin air!!
I’m here to show you that when you think about and ask different questions, your mind can then focus more on solutions and resources rather than the problems. You see that all the ideas that are swimming in your mind are actually quite possible once you change the way you’re thinking about your life, what you want, and your why!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I am a HUGE fan of books! I have several that I read every year that truly help with entrepreneurs and, above all, mindset and working with the heart.
–The Alchemist
–The Four Agreements
–The ONE Thing
–Essentialism
–The Art of War
–The Bible
Because of these books, I’m able to break out of the judger/procrastination/perfectionist mode and instead take small steps of action. They help me to believe in why I am here and what I want to do in this world to give others the positive mindset so they can also create an impact!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn being so hard on myself, being a perfectionist, and worrying about judgement of others. My entire life, I was always wanting to be better because “I don’t make mistakes.” That was ingrained in me. So, I became everything I thought everyone wanted me to be, and made sure that I was always doing everything I could for everyone else. If I made a mistake, not only was it embarrassing, but also, people probably thought I was stupid.
It took a long time and lots of work with mentors and mindset to break free of the fact that mistakes are NOT a bad thing, that actually, they are a necessary part of life! Also, that me making a mistake didn’t make me a bad person, or unworthy, or untrustworthy. it’s a process to understand how amazing mistakes really are, and I catch myself sometimes still worried about that, or worried that someone is silently judging me for something. However, by asking myself questions such as “what’s another way I can think about this?” and going from Judgement Mode to Learner Mode, I am able to look at myself from a non-judgemental manner and get myself back on track!
