We recently connected with Shevaun Poole and have shared our conversation below.
Shevaun, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
When i was a child i would always groom my childhood dogs. I loved animals so much that from a young age i know i wanted to do something in the animal field. I came up with the idea one night that i should start my own small business and start from scratch. This led to me making some phone calls to find out where the salon can be located and how i would brand my business. My friend helped me create my logo and the name and this is when i truly realized that this business “idea” was coming true. This led to the renovation of our salon, which was not an easy class. me and my friends gathered the tools and supplies we needed in order to make the salon beautiful and organized. after the salon was completed i went out and bought a bunch of professional tools. This was. big investment as i had no idea if i wasn’t even sure if i would ever have enough clients to make the money back. Once the renovations and purchasing of equipment was complete that task was to find clients. to begin it was very slow with about 10 clients a month then i started realizing the amount of new clients that were coming in as they heard positive reviews about our business. Our business is continue to grow at a rapid pace and i could not be happier.
Shevaun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always had a love for animals this influenced my decision to start my own dog grooming business. It first began with grooming my own dogs and then it turned into friends and families dogs and now we have turned it into an actual business. I provide different grooming services for dogs that can range from a simple nail trim to a beautiful full groom. My business serves very beneficial for anxious dogs or dogs that do not get along with other pups as we provide one on one grooming. I think this sets us apart from others as we really take the time to groom the dog in order to not stress or overwhelm them. I am most proud of the happiness i can provide with the owners of the anxious pups when they know their pup is in good hands.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me come from owners that have anxious pups. These anxious dogs are typically turned away from other groomers as they can prove to sometimes be difficult to work on. Many of my customers that are regulars spread the word about the business and this is what has made the business so popular.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Each customers have access to my partners personal phone number that lets them easily get in contact with us. Many of our clients also use facebook messenger to reach us when looking to book their pup in for an appointment. We try to be very accommodating for our customers as we know that life gets in the way of appointments from time to time. Being understanding and personable is what makes our clients into regulars as well as our prices. We understand that in today’s economy all prices have sky rocketed and we want to make sure that owners are still being able to have their furry friends taken care of.
