We’ve been blown away by the examples of generosity and kindness that are at the heart of so many brands in the community. We asked some of the most giving entrepreneurs and leaders we know to tell us about how they think about the practice of donating a percentage of sales.

I am a member of the Associate’s Board for Sarah’s Circle, a Chicago nonprofit with a mission of serving women who are experiencing homelessness or in need of a safe space. Additionally, every closing benefits a local charity – serving our neighbors without addresses. On behalf of my clients, I donate a portion of my commission to a local non-profit that serves the unhoused community in Chicago. I selected 12 organizations so the charity rotates monthly (got this idea from my wedding florist, Flowers for Dreams!). Yes, we donate $1 from every City Sampler we sell, and we pick a different organization to give toward usually every month. We have given to great organizations like, Hope House, The Northland Christmas Store, Feed Northland Kids, Nourish KC, Midwest Transplant Network, Mother’s Refuge, and more! A percentage of my sales are donated to Humanity and Hope. I chose this organization as I have a heart for people and for children. I was blessed to go on a trip in 2018 and see the several villages that this organization walks alongside. They don’t just “hand out” money or clothes.
