We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Segura Nino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Segura below.
Segura, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The first 2 letters in my salon name “Sv Beauty And Spa” Originated from my first name. A lot of people don’t know my full first name because I only go by Segura, Even my childhood friends knew me as Segura, my full first name is Segura Vondeshia. When people here me say my full name they are always in shock as in how unique it is, when I drew out my salon plan, I wanted to make it as unique as possible and I wanted it to be attached to me so I used the first 2 letters in my salon name abbreviated for Segura Vondeshia.
Segura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Growing up, I had a passion for beauty, fashion and journalism. I grew up in Beaumont Tx, and moved to Houston Tx when I was 15. Through my middle and Highschool years, I designed my own clothes, did hair, makeup and created my own talk shows. I thought of myself as a serial entrepreneur, I wanted it all. I was very dominant and a very ambitious girl, I already had a plan, I knew what college I wanted to go to, I knew what my career goals were, and I knew what type of business that I wanted to open. There was a lot of things that I wanted to achieve after graduating high school and those things I wanted to achieve required money. So in the meantime while looking for colleges, in 2016 I decided to launch my own online virgin hair boutique “Weloveithair”. What inspired me the most about opening a hair boutique was me being a hairstylist to my mom growing up and learning about different hair types. this would also help me financially. I always wanted to open an online hair boutique but never found the time to, as years went by I successfully ran my online hair boutique and attended college finally graduating with my degree in communication, After graduating college things started to fall in place, I was able to achieve my long list of goals with the money I was making from my online boutique and spend more time in the Journalism field. I’ve connected with so many other journalist, created my own talk show, podcast, and YouTube Channel, and received the chance to interview many celebrities. While accomplishing these long list of goals I mothered 2 beautiful children and became a bonus mom and wife, I started my own blog to help mothers become more organized and healthy, became a mentor to many individuals, an influencer, a published author, fashion model, brand ambassador and salon owner of Sv Beauty & Spa. I always wanted to open my own salon, and finally did! While balancing being a wife, mother and serial entrepreneur takes hard work, dedication and time it can take you off your path at times. A lot of people ask me how I did it but I tell them the number one thing! GOD! I’m also a natural born achiever with a very ambitious personality. I’m excited to now say I transitioned my online hair boutique “Weloveithair” inside of my salon.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
As I mentioned before, my journalism field has helped me tremendously with connections, networking and to build my reputation in the Houston area. Interviewing people and celebrities around Houston, showing up at many different events through out the years and having my own podcast/talk show has helped me gain a lot of followers, friends and mentees.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Social media, on foot networking and word of mouth.
