We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yinan Mao. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yinan below.
Yinan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
This is a story that happened in 2020 when I worked on a smartphone advertisement project during the pandemic. Despite the challenging circumstances, we managed to complete all the work through online communication. The culmination of our efforts materialized in the form of a virtual runway. This collaboration opened my eyes to the countless possibilities in presenting and finishing clothing. As a fashion designer, I have come to appreciate the potential of exploring diverse techniques.
Yinan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always held the belief that fashion encompasses more than just clothing. It has the power to represent both a product and an attitude. I never confine my designs to a single category; rather, I explore various avenues within the fashion industry. My design direction extends through clothing, accessories, jewelry, and other related areas. I hope to convey my aesthetics to the audience through my design
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Just as a writer conveys emotion through words, a singer conveys emotion through voice. As an artist, I can also express my personal views and aesthetics through your works
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The book ‘Obituary’ inspired me a lot. This book originated from The Economist. It includes the stories of famous people and forgotten people, gurus and saints, liars, and fame seekers. It even includes the intriguing account of an African gray parrot. After I finish reading this book, I believe that everyone in this world has a story worth telling and unique shining points. If you are living in a lost now, maybe this book can be a ray of light, illuminating your current boring life
