We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pamela Rodriguez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
A little back story. Ever since I can remember i loved pictures. My room was full of pictures of family and friends. I would always ask my mom to buy me a disposable camera. I remember going to my sisters house and she had this gray camera, I would always take pictures of her daughters using blankets a backdrops. when I started hight school my freshman year my parents gifted me my first digital camera. time past by and I forgot about it for a long time, until I got married. We had our first born on March 2018, my son was born photography came back to me as well. All I would was take pictures of my baby. One day my husband comes to me and says you know lets get you a camera, use it as hobby make something out of it.
I sure did, the moment I posted about it, I had clients coming and I felt so blessed people were actually supporting my business.
I was scared at first I didn’t know much about eating or the settings of the camera it was hard at first for me to understand what I was doing. My husband did not leave alone in this journey even thought he as he’s own business he did not fail to help me out.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a stay at home mom. Thankfully I get to stay with my two boys to see them grow. It was hard at first, before I was a mom I worked and made my own money. So been at home all day wasn’t something I wanted to do. While been at home I would do photoshoots of my first born. My husband gifted me my first camera and I knew what I wanted to do. I was inspired by many photographers and made it business. Pam G Photography is a family business. I love shooting family portraits. engagements. smash cakes, graduations, etc.
Im thankful for many people supporting my business it keeps growing. it has been a challenge. I’m still learning and I know theres more to know. I enjoy every session, I want my clients to enjoy and love their session.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding of been a photographer is I get see many families smile. I get to capture their love, and will for ever have memories to look back too. Not also I get to capture other families but I get to have as many memories with my family as well.
When going to to my sessions there something I love and enjoy is seen new places, I also get to meet knew people.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
one lesson I unlearn is having negativity about what I’m capable of doing. I left negativity behind. I would always doubt my self thinking I would never make it happen. that’s was stopping me for been able to follow my dreams of starting my own business. here I am working to get better each day and grow in this journey .
