We were lucky to catch up with E-EYE’S recently and have shared our conversation below.
E-EYE’S, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I was so caught up in being seen and discovered by a record label for so long. In 2017 I decided to start my own record label, “Purple Sunrise Entertainment”. I took matters into my own hands and signed myself to my own blueprint and started to market my own materials. It was a big risk because all investments are coming out of my pockets 100 percent as an indie artist but it’s also rewarding when you don’t have to sit around and wait for someone else to tell you what to do and how to sound when it comes to my music. So, it’s incredible that I can still be my authentic self at the end of the day.
E-EYE’S, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is E-EYE’S, I’m an indie alternative artist from Houston, TX. I’ve been doing music for quite some time now. I offer my own in-house marketing, recording cost, budget spending, drafting some contracts to make sure all parties hold up to their agreement when doing business with someone. I am most proud of getting my music out to my fanbase and to see the good results after each project being released under my record label.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Sure, when I was in the recording process of recording my album, “Pink Sand & Purple Oceans” I had to push my album back so many times because I wasn’t done with the album. It took me 2 years to finally put that album out. “Pink Sand & Purple Oceans” was released in March 2023. I’m super proud of that body of art. “Pink Sand & Purple Oceans” is now available on all digital outlets.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
You have to always have tough skin being in the music business. There’s so many doors constantly being slammed in your face on a daily basis.
