We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Earle Garnette a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Earle, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking aa risk is something scary yet the most brave and important part of any creative career “shooting you shot”, “taking the leap of faith” it come in many terms and has it own height for each individual. I recently took a risk and yes at first it was super hard the ups and down the not where and when something was coming up or down. but after away of connections, auditions showing up and be present in those moments life has started to turn and now the things that i dreamed about are coming true. To sum it all up taking a risk and leaving your comfort zone is the scariest thing you could do but it has the biggest pay off I can say
Earle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
hello My name is Earle Garnette I am a dancer choreographer artist. I was bord and raised in Philadelphia I been train in dance snice I was 18 years old. yes kind of a late start I was inspired but artist like Usher, Omarion Chris brown, and after watching them on tv I started my dance journey I started taring with a dance company in my home town I Am Phresh In all styles of hip hop started of as freestyler and a battler trained hard and now i choreograph live shows with artist to theater number all over the world. I teach hip hop dance class from regular to workshop spreading the knowledge of hip hop culture and energy to people where i can. understanding where the moves and the energy comes from in dance is super important to me and that you feel everything where it came from and where it is going
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
This is gonna seem crazy but books i wish that books or even visual works in books would be more available sometimes images stories or just landscapes can provide more than a movie could ever do i have been looking at a lot of these photographer books or would and then have been a big source of information in my newest work
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
how i built my audience on social media was being more authentic to my self and really pushing my self past the feeling of just being okay i did art that had meaning to me at the moment rather it was trending or was most popular i stayed in my lane promoted my work like it was the best thing ever and keep being inspired by those who did the same or that i looked up too i took explains like Tyler the creator, childish Gambino, and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few
