Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alia Adel . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Alia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Hi, Thanks for having me! The hardest part is definitely executing and bringing an idea to life. I bought the domain The Styled Stories in 2018, I knew I wanted to start a business with it but the idea wasn’t exactly there yet. I knew I wanted to do something that would be equally rewarding and creative. I wasn’t ready to leave the fashion industry yet and take that risk on my own.
By August 2019, I got laid off and it was the happiest day of my life, I was miserable at my job and just wanted to be out. One would say I manifested getting laid off! I took my time to really think of what my next step would be, I knew a desk job wasn’t it and working for someone else was just not for me anymore. I wanted to do something that would make a difference, help people, and still honor my creative side . My original thought was ” Ok! I love fashion, but I hate the fashion industry, maybe I should dip my toes into styling”. Months went by and I found myself not really excited to dig deep into the styling world or start building this company. I was avoiding it, that in itself was all I needed to know. This wasn’t what I was meant to do.
I started looking deep into myself and what truly brought me the most joy. I found that organizing my place, my closet or my friend’s closets was so fun to me, it was calming and exciting. I loved telling the story of my home through my personality, my style and the way I like things a certain way. I started doing the same thing at my friends’ places and that’s when it hit me, I am going to be a professional organizer and help tell people’s stories through organizing and styling their homes. The name The Styled Stories just made so much more sense and I knew I was on the right track.
Right as I was going through all the internal battles in my head, the world was hit with the pandemic and we were all told to quarantine for what felt like eternity. I remember waking up every morning, making coffee, putting music on and doing a puzzle, spending hours on Tiktok, and watching TV as nice as it was, it was also lonely, quiet and scary at times. I didn’t know what tomorrow would bring or how any of this would turn out. In the midst of all this chaos I chose to look at the silverlining of it all and acknowledge the endless time and pause we were all given as a society. I told myself I’ve been given such a rare opportunity, I will never get this much time to do nothing and stay at home with no responsibilities again. I didn’t want it to go to waste. I decided I would take this time to build the company I always wanted.
April 2020, I would wake up every morning, put music on, make my coffee and sit at my dining table and work on The Styled Stories from 9 to 4. It took a lot of discipline, lots of pep talks from friends and family, lots of endless group chats to help me decide on logo, business card, brand identity, etc.. and by May 2020 The Styled Stories was officially open for business and that was another best day of my life. It was the best decision I’ve ever made, I took a risk, looked ahead and had only one plan.. to make this work and it did! I am so proud of what I’ve built and continue to build.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Of course! My name is Alia Adel, I am the owner and the founder of The Styled Stories. The Styled Stories is a professional home organizing business based in Los Angeles California. Designed to help busy people live an organized, stress-free life. The Styled Stories is all about finding calm in the midst of all the chaos, and creating an environment inspired by you to help you fall in love with your space again.
The Styled Stories offers closet, home organizing and vacation packing services.
What sets The Styled Stories apart from other organizers is it’s all about building a connection. It’s not just about coming in and organizing, it’s about getting to know you and your home and building that trust and connection. Organizing someone’s home isn’t just about putting things in bins and making it pretty, it’s about transforming their homes, inspiring them to adopt good habits, creating a safe, calm environment , and implementing new systems in place to help make their everyday life a little easier.
One of the things I am most proud of is the community I built on instagram and through my clients. The connection I have with everyone and the relationships that blossomed warm my heart and bring me so much joy.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Oh man, so many! one sticks out the most right now. I won’t go into too much details but it definitely taught me a very valuable lesson.
No matter how nice and accommodating you are, there will always be someone who thinks you’re not doing enough. If there is one thing I want you to take from this article it’s this: It is never about you, don’t take it personal.
I meet so many different people every day which makes what I do fun but also sometimes challenging. I will not be everyone’s cup of tea and that is ok. I know deep in my core that I give a 100% to everything I do and sometimes a 100% is just not enough for some people. There will be people who will try to give you opinions on how to run your business because it’s a different way from how they run their own, or because they don’t like your policies or you weren’t accommodating enough after waving multiple fees and going out of your way to reschedule appointments for them.
I had to learn that all these things do not determine my value, that I am still great at what I do and I do it for a reason and I won’t lose sight of it because a couple of people will not accept boundaries and that is okay.
Every day, every client and every project is a learning lesson when you’re running your own business.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
This will sound so cliché but I stayed true to myself. I post about my business, things I like and enjoy doing, I give little glimpses of my life and I am not afraid to be vulnerable. You’d be surprised how many people will open up to you and connect to you when you stay authentic to yourself.
I don’t have millions of followers, but a couple thousands of you think I’m cool enough to follow and that warms my heart.
Social media changes everyday and it’s hard to keep up with it, my one advice would be don’t be afraid to take small pivots. Ask your followers what they would like to see form you, engage with them always and stay true to yourself. It’s not about the number to me but more about the community.
