Shani, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As an upcoming stylist and designer, I’m still learning every single day. I’m most proud of myself for learning how to work and deal with people who have all different types of personalities, styles, attitudes, titles, etc. Knowing how to speak to people is one of the most important things to learn in this business. Aside from that I’ve really been working on learning how to produce clothing from scratch. The fashion industry is an expensive one, so when u can do certain things on your own it brings you to an advantage. Also, producing my own pieces has given me another level of satisfaction. My grandma who is a retired seamstress, has pretty much been teaching me the skill of sewing my whole life. As I’m taking my craft more seriously, she has really been an important part of my success and I’m so grateful.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a fashion stylist and designer. Fashion is my number one passion in life and I love being able to create looks and play with clothes. As an upcoming stylist, so far I have styled fashion shows, photo shoots, and I’ve styled wardrobe looks for personal clients. I love being able to make people happy with clothes and being able to help one’s vision come to life. My goal with styling is to always make sure the client is comfortable, happy, and sometimes to push them out of their comfort zone to be able to create a different look than what they would usually go for. That’s also why I wanted to become a designer. I love clothes, but I also like to be different. My brand INAHS by ShaniNyelle incorporates what I would want to wear and the different types of clothing that I feel everyone needs. In a world where everyone follows the next trend and everyone is just producing the same things, I want to create clothes that I feel people don’t really see or come across, that’s of good quality and with the right fit.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is connecting with so many different people. Working with different minds to share different perspectives, learn from one another, gain knowledge, and experiences. It’s honestly a beautiful feeling and I just love being able to positively give and take. Doing what I love, connecting with others, and making people happy. Overall, this is why I love what I do.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by my ambition to be successful. I want to be able to make billions doing exactly what I love to do. In doing so, I want to be able to give back to my parents most importantly. My parents are my world and soon enough I will be able to give them the world because they deserve it. I know they want to see me succeed and do all the things that I say I want to do, they have given me this life with so many opportunities and I want to be able to live in so much abundance that I can reciprocate it back to them and the rest of my family.
