We recently connected with Tha J-Squad and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tha , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

Our parents are the reason why we’re music enthusiast. They started an Independent Production company called “Messenger Productions” back in the 90’s. Their sole purpose was to spread peace & positivity during the Drug & Gang Epidemic in los angeles. We witnessed many late night recording sessions in professional studios, stage performances & even their song “Go Lakers” being played on LA’s number one radio station, 92.3 The Beat. Our mother was the Singer, Song Writer & Rapper while our father also became the Emcee under the alias “The Messenger”. Messenger productions was more than just a record label, it was a family. They often took in underprivileged youth & gave them an alternative to the otherwise hectic LA lifestyle by allowing them to be apart of the music group. If it wasn’t for our exposure from birth & parental guidance, who knows where we would be today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We are a brother team of Music Producers primarily known for creating Music for the dance style known as “Krump”. We started an Independent Record Label led by our Mother & Executive Producer (Tha J-Squad Beat Mastaz Productionz) where we released 21 our own mixtapes titled “J-Squad Krump Mixes”. We also started the first all Krump dancing event called “Krump Arena”. This enabled us to provide a positive outlet exclusively to Krump Dancers as well as distribute our music to the world. That eventually led to numerous placements in the Entertainment Industry such as “So You Think You Can Dance” , “Stomp The Yard”, “The Beyonce Experience Live Tour” & more. We currently have one of the largest Remix channels on youtube under the alias “Remix Maniacs”. The path was never easy. We faced adversity at every turn. From problems at the Event, to quarrels with group members. Persistence & vision helped us overcome those obstacles. We want the world to know that we’re more than just “Krump producers”. We’re multi-talented musicians looking to take over the music industry.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is bringing people joy through music. Everytime we receive a positive comment, it reminds us of why we’re doing this. You never know how a song can impact someone’s mood or day.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Our mission as of today is to become of the biggest producing teams of all time. We want to show the world that we can make music for all genres & that nothing can limit our creativity. We’ve already had moderate success in Television & Film, now we’re focused on infiltrating the music industry with artist, background music for commercials & video games as well as more placements in TV/Film.
