Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Arkazul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Arkazul thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
One of the most unexpected problem we had was some years ago. We were invited to play at Hard Rock Cafe, in Caracas, Venezuela. Everything was going well, rehearsals, bus tickets (we are from another state), backline, everything. For some reasons, our bass player and the drummer were traveling one day after us. When we were in Caracas we called them and they said everything was fine, they were going to take the bus and they will be there the next morning, but the only one on the phone was the bass player. Next morning we went to the terminal to take them to the appartment and SURPRISE! the only one there was the bass player, the drummer “had a problem and he didn’t make it”, but we knew it was only an excuse. It was so frustrating because we had a full rock show to play.. How can you play a rock show with no drummer? After some silence, I told the guys we should play anyway, we could do it. So we started to improvise an acoustic show with electric guitars. We made some arrangements and WE DID IT! We played a totally improvised acoustic show at Hard Rock Cafe with electric guitars. Of course after that day we had to look for another drummer.
Arkazul, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Probably the fact that we are constanly growing and changing, and we know a lot of people say that, but is the fact that seeing that as time goes by we can look at the past and see how we managed to advance in all our art. Many times we don.t know what we are doing, but you know, sometimes it’s hard to see the big picture when you´re there. What we can assure is that no matter what, if you want to look what you’re doing, keep walking, learning about everything you did, get better, everything will be fine. You will see in a couple of years when you look back and you will wonder how you did it back in that time.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Maybe the best way to support artists and creatives is to share their art, their work. it’s free to share their work on social media, it’s free to recommend what they do to a friend. If you want to support a musician, go to listen to their music on streaming platforms, so they can get some pennies to continue doing their music. Go to their gigs, buy their merch. You probably don’t know how hard it is for them to publish their art. Go to share it.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Of course, beyond the desire to live thanks to the work we are doing, which in many cases can become an important objective to achieve, it’s the posibility to be capable of reaching many people with your art, being more than just music to soldout venues , it’s the fact that become a part of other lives. I can remember the exact moment when one song started to be part of the soundtrack of my life. Sometimes one song can be that whing you needed to listen, and if in addition wecan live thanks to our work reaching others and becoming part of their lives, it will all be worth it.
