We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Heather Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Heather below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
Understanding that career success is directly related to emotional regulation would’ve allowed me to get further along the path and also enjoy the journey much more. When you have a strong desire to be successful, often there is some resistance that comes with that. Examples include proving someone wrong, imposter syndrome, and money blocks.
I would spend so much time stressing about where I was at and how much further I had to go that it would truly slow me down significantly. And I believe this is a common problem.
When I realized that embodying safety using breath-work and meditation was key to my success and overall happiness, the energy of my business transformed quickly into a place where I felt like I had finally arrived at my version of success.
And as I moved into that space, I had more patience and enjoyment for every step on the way because my internal dialogue was supportive and encouraging instead of negative and demeaning.
It seems unrelated, but emotional regulation is the way to be able to ENJOY success and bring it in faster.
Heather, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I do energy work. I channel my feelings into abstract artwork, read energy as a psychic medium, and do energy healing using Reiki and Thetahealing to empower people into joyful experiences.
Emotions are energy in motion. Understanding emotional energy is a part of developing intuition. We all have the ability to develop our unique intuition. Mine is channeled through painting and in client sessions. I also combine the two and paint people’s energy. Many are happy to know that their energy is actually incredibly beautiful, and every session is about uncovering new ways in which we are loved.
Many people avoid psychic mediums because of stereotyping and because they are so hard on themselves that they are afraid of what they will hear once they tune in to Spiritual energy.
But every session is about finding out more about how each client is loved in a very holistic, spiritual businesses in my area.
Have you ever had to pivot?
The world is changing rapidly. I’ve found in my journey that achieving success is about knowing when to let go of a job or project and knowing when to stay. We have to have the ability to catch and release business without beating ourselves up in order to become our ideal version of success.
Im a psychic artist healer. You’re not gonna find that position in corporate. And because I was creating something new, I had to pivot often. In a three year period, I have begun and ended dozens of jobs, contracts, and business ties.
Sometimes I enjoyed my job, but it wasn’t paying enough.
Sometimes the job paid well, but it drained my soul.
This doesn’t mean that I am not able to be dedicated on a day to day basis. On the contrary, it means that what I am most dedicated to is my idea of success, day in and day out.
At first I felt like every step onward was a huge risk, and it gave me a lot of anxiety. Eventually I realized, the job lets you know when it’s time to move on simply because it becomes uncomfortable, and it isn’t getting better.
And I have to emotionally regulate, realize that there are so many ways to make money, and most importantly, I’ve developed the self-trust to know that I will always rise to the occasion.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Over and over again, I jumped into a bigger, more specific river of abundance. So when I first starting practicing artwork, I did anything I could to work at Florida Art Therapy Services to learn everything I could about art, emotion, and how they work together. Then I needed to understand how to grow a social media following, so I worked as an independent contractor creating posts and doing social media for other more successful businesses.
And then I would connect with holistic:spiritual business in my area by reading at psychic fairs and doing energy healings at spas.
This helped me learn the skills to put my career together and also helped me create a dynamic networking system.
