We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaitlyn Davis-Linton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kaitlyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
In my opinion, the most prevalent misconception is that I will behave differently as I grow in my career. Those around me encourage me not to lose sight of them as I progress in my career. They need to know that my achievements will never affect how I treat them. It is unclear how successful people come to believe that treating others harshly is acceptable due to their social status and social class. Those who helped me when I had nothing will always be modest and grateful to me.

Kaitlyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I find it amusing that you ask. As far as I am concerned, it’s all about who you know. Inevitably, I began doing what I liked, which was fashion modeling. It was important for me to establish relationships and to expand my portfolio as I traveled. Even though I am an introvert, I know I cannot succeed on my own. Developing relationships and working hard are the keys to achieving your goals in life. If you don’t put yourself out there and hope that the right person notices you, you won’t be successful. Your efforts must be demonstrated to those who can appreciate them. You will receive many no’s, but that one yes could change your life forever.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Witnessing the people around me benefit from my efforts is the most rewarding part of being a creative for me. I am naturally not interested in popular items or interacting with the largest people. The enthusiasm of my friends and family encourages me to go the extra mile because I know the outcome will be scrutinized.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
This has got to be one of my favorite questions. People often comment on my age, mostly because I am so young, but also because they are often shocked by the wisdom I possess at my age. I enjoy following people who are either life coaches or speak about mental health and emotional intelligence on social media. The majority of people are unaware of these issues since they are not taught in school. I have gained a new perspective on my life after learning how to cope with problems, friendships, relationships, and family. In addition to being positively affected by having a fresh perspective, I have also been able to assist people in overcoming problems I have always faced.
