We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Peter Toth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Peter below.
Peter, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
High altitude mountaineering and rock climbing is high risk high reward. It all started when my son was about 15 years old and a high achiever academically but I wanted to teach him about my love of outdoor adventures. I took him rock climbing on a trip to Colorado. We both pushed the boundaries ever higher. I eventually started climbing high mountains all over the world. My highest was over 20,000ft. in ice and rock. Together my son and I climbed many peaks in the US, Mexico and Killimanjaro in Africa.
All of these adventures come with and incredible amount of risk. Concentration and supreme conditioning are a must. The rewards of a successful summit are hard to describe to anyone who has not done it.

Peter, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was a high ranking executive in the advertising industry. Started to in creative and moved into managing director/partner. I was always very good at photography and directing film and commercials. As i was considering retirement decisions I thought about starting a photography business doing weddings and portraits. My business took off and photography was ever evolving to more and more artistic approaches.
For one wedding along the eastern ocean I decided to create a more painterly look for some of the photos. This body of work was and is highly influenced by impressionist painters like Monet and Seurat. The clients loved it. Eventually this photographic style became more and more impressionistic and galleries started to showcase them where one gallery curator called them “Photo Impressionism.” And the label stuck and has been used in many publications and museum and gallery shows.
The paintings and 3D work I produce are also highly influenced by my photographic style.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I’m lucky to be both a left and right brain individual so I understand the financial implications of any action. It was part of my professional responsibility and as a one time president of a non-profit art gallery. Most artists are financially clueless. I’m fortunate that I don’t need to support myself from the sale of my art.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When collectors tell me why anyhow much they love my work and the impact it makes in their home and in their lives.
