We were lucky to catch up with Rkhty Aaron recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rkhty , thanks for joining us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
I worked for a small business throughout the pandemic and during that time, I carried out a variety of roles I didn’t expect to fulfill. I was in charge of Recruitment, Human Resources, Company Culture, accounts payable and a host of other duties. My previous roles didn’t not prepare me for the level of responsibility I would eventually take on. On the outside, I displayed a level of command that one may experience as that of a person that is assured. Working so closely on the business side gave me a level of insight that I could only experience as a third party. That experience showed me that nothing is as complicated as it seems, most items of business are negotiable, stand firm in compensation for your services and creativity finds its way into many lines of business and is displayed in different roles.

Rkhty , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I sing with ease and produce voiceover experiences as an extension of vocal creativity- but I’m not limited to those titles. I’ve been a singer for the majority of my life. I attended graduate school to become an Audiologist but that was short lived. Aside from releasing music as an independent singer, I also produce advertisements for brands and companies that reflect their brand messaging. I’m not aware of musicians that intentionally provide these services. I’m proud of the work I’ve been able create and work at a level that has not yet reached it’s peak. I take pride in being able to bring an idea to life with my voice, and that I’m able to awaken imagery beyond traditional voiceovers and and across genres.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
-Pay artists and creatives a living wage. Art balances humanity and artists are often overlooked and underpaid. Struggling should not be synonymous with artistry. – Increase streaming pay outs for musicians – Less than a cent to the dollar will always be unacceptable.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing people sing the lyrics to my songs will always be the most surreal experience or being an artist.
