We were lucky to catch up with Kia Leiani recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kia, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Leaving my 9-5 and making my entertainment career full time. Taking a risk and really putting in the work to make this a reality. From casting calls to actually landing roles and being featured in films. Also, stand up comedy is something fresh but I’ve started doing comedy shows and really loving the craft! Music has always been a priority so adding more crafts to my plate has really been a great risk I’m glad I took.
Kia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been writing and recording music since the early age of 8 years old. I never stopped creating and things have just blossomed for me over the years due to hard work. Being disciplined is the key to success in this industry. I have always been a leader and very hands on with my craft. Knowing what you want is key to success.
I am most proud of taking a leap in faith and branching out into acting and stand up comedy. Something I took very serious and I am now elevating in the craft. But also being a full time single mother while being a boss in this game!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an creative is the joy I bring to your audience. Also, being a blessing to people I don’t even know. People look for my content when they’re having a bad day to cheer them up or just to brighten up there day a littler more. I never realized how much joy I could bring to my peers with my gift and learning that is rewarding for me.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I was a lot more involved to social media before I started capitalizing on it as I have been this far in my career. But everything definitely happens for a reason and on Gods timing.
