We were lucky to catch up with Mimo Magri recently and have shared our conversation below.

Mimo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.

I was doing readings for my close ones and right when the pandemic hit in early march 2020, I saw a shift around me. People needed guidance and I received a few demands from strangers to assist them. I went from casual readings to actually writing and preparing charts for people all over the globe. It was such a blessing to see how my work was making a difference during this very difficult time. From word to mouth, I was able to sustain myself and thrive with daily readings and a few writing gigs for magazines. I’m fortunate to be able to assist people when they need clarity.

Mimo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m an artist, singer-songwriter, but I’ve always worked in the spiritual realm. I am an astrologer and writer and help people decipher their birth chart and transits of the moment. I started with tarot and then studied hellenistic astrology, which led me to modern astrology and its more psychological side. I practice a more “down to earth” type of astrology, focused on self love and self care. I’m able to guide people in discovering some parts of their psyche, while honoring their authenticity and taking responsibility for their actions too. My approach is a very human and empathetic one, and I’m very proud of the impact my work has had on a lot of people and my community.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I believe when you are authentic and kind, the work speaks for itself. I never had to do advertising or post too much about my readings because I always had people referring me to their friends and family. I’m fortunate to continue to work and expanding my audience. Collaborations helped me a lot too. Working with other readers or astrologers that have integrity and are known in the field. Reputation isn’t what is important but more that you stay true to your feelings and intuition. If I can’t take on a client, I don’t. I believe respecting my boundaries and honoring my true feelings is part of giving my best in every reading and to every client.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

That a business is supposed to just grow in a linear way. The journey of working for yourself comes with detours and lower states and interruptions. Allowing my business to grow is also welcoming those dips and working harder when needed. It doesn’t always just keeps growing year after year, you also hit plateau at times.
