We recently connected with Ti’YAH Darcel Ingram and have shared our conversation below.

Ti’YAH Darcel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I have been cutting hair since I was 12 years old, almost 26 years now. I didn’t get licensed until 2013. TMH (The Most High God) told me that cutting hair would Segway ministry for me. Which meant that me quitting my job of five years in 2020 to be a full time entrepreneur would be the start of my forever. I used my 401K to open my business “Radical Kutz Barbershop”which now allows me the privilege to travel the world preaching and teaching the Gospel through music and ministry. So the idea came from TMH, I have always loved music and cutting hair but I never fathomed not having to work a full time job for someone else and still be able to do both. That’s a joy to me. It literally warms my heart. It shows me that with TMH God anything is possible. I lost faith and wanted to quit so many times but he continued to keep me no matter what. There were so many times I thought I would fail and it looked like I was failing but I never lost hope. I’m beyond grateful that he chose me to be an example to others that anything is possible with TMH leading the way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

The Radical1ne is a minister of music , she is a master barber stylist and she loves TMH . Her barbershop is a safe space filled with love, joy and peace. The environment changes a person’s mood. The peace within the establishment is so welcoming. We offer haircuts to all clients of all ages and ethnicities. We also offer loc services along with natural protective styles. The Radical1ne is available to minister through music to any and everyone who has an ear to hear. She has multiple projects available for purchase and download. She is the leader of Daughters of Zion which is a branch of New Tribe. Centered on preaching and teaching the Gospel to women around the world. All the Glory belongs to TMH. We love on his people because he loves on us ! What makes me the proudest is to see all those that I encounter feel the presence and The Spirit of TMH everytime they are around me and I love that for them and me also !

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

There are so many lessons I’ve had to unlearn but I will narrow it down for the sake of time. My entire life I’ve been taught that people of color are less than and that we can’t do the things that white people can do or that we can’t be AS successful as they can. Which was one of the greatest lies told. In reality we are the people of the book (The Bible) we have been chosen since before the beginning of time. So when I learned who I really was and unlearned who they (this world) had trained me to be; my entire life shifted. I changed my way of thinking. I changed my level of consistency. I changed my work ethic and i became a better person all around. I no longer felt like the help I felt like A BOSS ; so I became A BOSS with TMH leading the way. I will never go back to that slave /crabs in a barrel mentality. I know who I am and I know act and move accordingly especially concerning my business. I treat people fairly and I love them with a pure heart. That’s my biggest lesson in life period.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Resilience has always been in my nature but if people tell you so long that you can’t do or be something at some point you start to believe it. I worked at my previous job for 5 years and people thought I would never quit to become an entrepreneur but I knew differently. I didn’t know how I would do it I just knew it had to happen. So when obstacle after obstacle kept getting in the way I never quit. I just kept going back to the drawing board over and over again til I mapped out a plan that I could actually execute with TMH leading the way and I will never regret that I did. My life changed for the better simply because I never quit, I kept the faith and I didn’t look back. Being resilient is the only way to accomplish your goals. Keep going never let anyone besides TMH tell you what you can and can’t do! I truly love y’all the RIGHT WAY , the WRONG WAY, the LONG WAY and the STRONG WAY !!
