We were lucky to catch up with Travon Conyers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Travon , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
Lady Gaga has been a hero to me for a longtime. I grew up watching her career and it has done nothing but inspire me. One lesson I have learned from her is to never give up. When I first heard her music I had no idea how hard she had to work to become so successful. Her influence dawns on me anytime I feel hopeless . I absolutely admire the way she encourages anyone to love themselves. She is so compassionate and is okay with being vulnerable. This has taught me to remain true to myself no matter what it may cost.

Travon , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
While being in deep search of my passion I created a brand named Rare Soulz. At heart I have always loved art but found myself at whole with fashion. It was a way to express myself and I wanted to share that with the world. I designed this brand for others who are in search of anything that lies deep within. Rare Soulz is a apparel brand that represents bonding with a deeper version of yourself. This means releasing the inner version of you that is most true. That is my mission to any future clients and anyone who has discovered the brand. Embracing self identity is what Rare Soulz is all about

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was trying to play it safe. I was always afraid to make mistakes or be to careful but I learned that making mistakes is the only way to improve. When in early stages of creating my brand. I had no idea where to start . Instead of thinking about it I just did what felt right and fixed what was wrong later.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
As I got familiar with e-commerce I started with Etsy to push sales. This was helpful because starting out this platform did not require much financially However I did want to evolve my e-commerce platform to make it more personalized to my brand identity. I decided to wait until my audience was familiar with where I was going while using Etsy
