We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Coroma Combs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Coroma below.
Coroma, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge to profitability I believe is understanding that you have to realize businesses aren’t successful unless they understand profit and expenses and how they should balance or eventually profit exceeds expenses. I had to learn the hard way. I was purchasing supplies and shipping but the profit didn’t exist due to my lack of understanding the idea is to obtain profits to remain existent and successful. Your expenses shouldn’t be more than your profit unless you have a plan to offset them.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Coroma S. Combs. I am a small business owner/entrepreneur of C.Rece Knots Creations. We specialize in custom jewelry and custom arts/crafts. At the start of the pandemic, I was interested in purchasing bracelets that expressed my character and creativity. I saw multiple pages and products that were amazing but they didn’t speak to me so I ventured out to create my own. I shared with close friends and friends and shortly after, I started up social media pages and shared in my area of influence. I have now been in operation for 3 years. It has been exciting, trying, and educational. I’m glad I made the step to expand and do something different. We provide custom abstract jewelry and crafts. Most clients ultimately become overwhelmed with order, we created a short questionnaire to get to learn more about the client/customer. We pride ourselves in having the best customer service and seamless ordering process. We are most proud that quality or quantity is something we will always try to maintain. We desire to have satisfied and prideful customer that they trust us with all of their fashion/creative needs. Our brand is determined to be professional, efficient, and unique.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We started my audience on social media with my area of influence with my actually friends and family. We then branched out to my current fb friends. We then utilized the various resources that many of the social media platforms offer. From that, we established a social media presence. We aren’t where we want to be but we exist and we attract an audience from various parts of the word.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I honestly feel you will always have to pivot when it comes to life or your career. Things are so uncertain. You have to learn to prepare for the worse or the unknown. Think outside the box and understand it’s ok to need help or support. I do remember at the start of my business I had to recalibrate my thinking and understanding of what I knew about being a business owner/entrepreneur. It takes hard work, finances, and influence.
