Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maria Alejandra Hernandez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Maria Alejandra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I am happy as an artist and creative. However, I can understand the challenges and rewards that come with being an artist or creative professional. It’s a career path that often requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, but it can also be incredibly fulfilling and satisfying to create something that resonates with others.
As for wondering what it would be like to have a regular job, that’s a common question that many artists and creatives ask themselves. While a regular job may offer more stability and financial security, it may not provide the same level of creative freedom and expression. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to weigh the pros and cons and decide what path is best for them.
I just love to be able to create and as an actress be able to put myself in someone else’s shoes. I believe that being an Artist sometimes makes you more human.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Certainly! since I was little I always knew I wanted to be involve in the Arts. It brought me love and so many other powerful emotions. As an actress, film director, producer, and writer, I have a passion for storytelling and bringing characters to life on screen. I started my career in the entertainment industry by studying acting and theater in college, and then went on to work on projects as an actress.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, which led me to start writing my own films and eventually directing and producing them as well. Along with my husband, We founded our own production company, GCM Productions, which allows us to have more creative control over the projects we work on.
As a filmmaker, I provide a range of creative services, from writing and directing to producing and acting. My work focuses on telling compelling stories that entertain, inspire, and challenge audiences. I’m always looking for new and innovative ways to approach storytelling and filmmaking, and I pride myself on being able to bring a unique perspective to every project.
I think that one of the things that can set me apart is my ability to wear multiple hats within the filmmaking process. As both a writer and director, I’m able to bring a cohesive vision to my projects, and as a producer, I’m able to manage the logistics and budget to ensure that everything runs smoothly. But, I won’t be able to do anything without my amazing team and crew! I believe that the creative business is not a solo game but a multiplayer game. We are a family and we all collaborated and contribute. All our voices are important and matter. Is an “US” environment for me.
Each project we have worked on has been a labor of love, and I’m always thrilled to see audiences connect with the stories and characters we’ve created.
For potential clients or followers, I want them to know that I’m deeply committed to my craft and passionate about bringing stories to life on screen. Whether I’m acting, writing, directing, or producing, I’m always striving to push the boundaries of what’s possible and create something truly memorable. I also love to collaborate with other Artists. So I would love to connect or help others.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey as a Lupus warrior is undoubtedly full of many challenges but with Faith and Hope I have decided to continue and that has helped me to overcome. When I was diagnosed with Lupus I had to stop everything! I had a horrible flareup 13 years ago and that’s when I got diagnosed. Moving, walking was painful, so I knew back then that I had to stop everything. Without good health is very hard to continue doing many different things. When I thought it was over, God showed me otherwise. I held strong to faith and Hope. I chose to wakeup everyday and be grateful for many things. One of those things was to still be alive. little by little I started picking up my broken pieces. I started walking again, moving again and my kidneys started getting better. The support that I received from different people was a beautiful blessing. Fast forwarding to the present, I started acting again and now creating and producing. I believe that having Lupus made me stronger and made me realize how grateful we have to be for today. This has made me more Human and more connected to the creative work and to others. I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow. For me is not about the fame but about doing what I love and heals my soul!
Looking back on that experience, I’m proud of the resilience I showed in the face of adversity. It’s a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, we have the inner strength and determination to overcome them if we stay focused on our goals and refuse to give up. By sharing our stories and supporting one another, we can inspire others to do the same and create a more resilient and compassionate world.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson that I had to unlearn is thinking that because I was diagnosed with Lupus, I was not going to be accepted. I had to learn to accept and love myself first. In this industry sometimes all we see is the pretend facade of perfection. But nobody is perfect! and bringing your scars to the table creates a movement and contributes to beautiful miracles!
