We recently connected with Willie Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Willie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I started writing my own music when i was 13, growing up as a kid I always was into music heavily. It started off as an outlet. My parents realized how much time I was spending working on music, starting with my mother investing in me buying an laptop and keyboard set, my dad introduced me into making beats.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Im an artist by the name of LilWIlThaGod I’m 25 years old from Lorain, Ohio an small city outside of Cleveland. What makes me stand out from most artist is I’m very versatile with styles of music. Im most proud of how far I’ve come as an artist, I got two big artist features within this last year. I’ve been staying consistent this year dropping a song or EP every month. Which might’ve been the hardest thing I done as an artist. Also I sell my own merchandise producing and designing myself, I even often do merchandise give aways to the fans & supporters who engage.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist to me is going out to the city and people knowing who I am & knowing the songs. Also when doing shows seeing everyone that came to support the small artists.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
How I build my audience as an artist is actually going anywhere outside of the city I’m from, promoting the music & doing open mics in different states. Also taking it as far as making business cards with QR codes linked to my social medias & music platforms. Biggest thing of them all as an artist is trying to stay consistent on social media if you’re in studio making post in studio, or when shooting music videos record behind the scenes. It gets the fans & supporters engaged into what you’re working on.
