We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ella Oliveras. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ella below.
Ella, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
A risk I’ve taken is putting my authentic self out there when starting out in the music industry. Whether or not people like me for who I am. But I know it’s important to be honest and yourself so that your audience can relate to you.
Ella, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and started songwriting at the age of eleven. I always knew in the back of my mind that I was going to put my songs out there for the world but I was hesitant and didn’t always believe in myself. As I started to grow up and realize more of my purpose, and writing more songs, my dreams and visions became more clear and I released my debut single in 2020 and haven’t stopped since then. I believe if you know what you’re destined to do in this life, you need to chase after it and put all fear aside. Whatever you put your energy into, you will get an outcome.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was training my mind to let go of fear and failure. I had to learn that fear is a friend and without failure I will never win. I can’t hit home runs on everything and I had to learn that it is a slow climb to the top. Not every song I write will be a hit and not everyone will like your sound. Staying true to myself and focusing on working harder in the studio has always helped me.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media can be tricky but learning how to build an audience can be trickier. I would 100% recommend being yourself and sharing your raw personality with people. The way you’re going to connect with an audience is by being you and sharing your experiences and life on a daily basis. Once you know how to do that and post on a regular basis then you will really start to connect with people who are truly there for you.
