We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nori Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nori, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I named this company after my first daughter, Nori Rosalie. She is named after my late grandmother, who passed two months before Nori was born. I thought it would be special to have a business my daughter and I could do together.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a creative mother of three beautiful children. I am always looking for fun, creative things to do with my children. Candle making has always been an enjoyable hobby for me. I begin to think about ways I can have special projects with each of my children where they get their one on one time with me. My daughter, who was 2 at the time, would take an interest in what I was doing so I eventually decided to start a business with her. I wanted a mother daughter business for both of us to enjoy and share our hobby with the world. We hand make each candle, sachets, and boy oil with natural products for our customers. Scents are memorable, so we want our customers to create new memories with our products.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I am employed full time, full time mother, and business owner. I offer candle making classes as apart of my business as well. Back in 2020, I just found out I was pregnant with my third child and my pregnancies are relatively difficult therefore, I decided to take a break from my business. I had committed to doing my first candle making class months before this and I already had materials ready for the class. It was difficult but I did push through and do the class. It was my first one and it was a huge success. I could not believe it being I was extremely sick the entire time but it meant so much to me so I knew I had to make it through. It was a proud moment in my journey and it opened up so many doors for future candle making classes.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn with my business is perfection. I had to learn that I would not get it absolutely perfect the first round. I tried to have every aspect of my business perfect so it was holding me back on certain things. I had to learn that it is okay to not be perfect and that there is always room for growth. Businesses evolve over time and it is okay to go back and redo things or even change some things completely.
